Every week, Aldi has 5 to 6 Produce Picks that are priced lower than you what you will ever see elsewhere. If you are close to an Aldi, it worth the time to stop in to pick some up.
Aldi now has their local ads online. Produce Pick start on Sunday and Special Buys on Wednesday. If you're not in the St Louis area, check your local area's ad for prices and dates.
The prices shown are from the Holly Hills store in St Louis. Prices and availability vary a bit between stores, but Produce Picks will be the same price throughout the St Louis Metro area.

If you haven't shopped at Aldi, or it has been awhile:
1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldi does not provide free bags for your groceries.
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons
If you buy something at Aldi you are not please with, they have a double guarantee. If for any reason, you are not 100% satisfied with any product, they will replace the product AND refund your money. More info HERE.
I stocked up on the .99 strawberries and catalope this past week. I froze about 7 16 oz. containers of strawberries, we use them for smoothies and Belgium waffle topping, and fruit parfaits.
ReplyDeleteHi Jill - I'm hoping Aldi will continue to periodically have $0.99 berries through the next 6 weeks or so because I didn't buy any extra to freeze.
ReplyDeleteHow do you prepare the berries for freezing? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous - I haven't frozen berries before but I like StillTasty.com for refrence.
ReplyDeleteTo freeze:
1. Wash strawberries carefully in cold water, drain & remove caps & stems.
2. Add 3/4 sugar to each quart and stir until sugar is dissolved.
3. Place in covered airtight containers or heavy duty freezer bags
Hopefully someone who freezes berries often will also come back and comment.
