TLC's Extreme Couponing has generated quite an interesting in couponing, and one of the most frequently asked questions is - which stores double coupons in my area. Here is what we get in St Louis.
Dierbergs - Double coupon policy is published online.
- Double manufacturer coupons valued at $0.40 or less
- Limit 15 manufacturer's coupon per family
- Only 3 identical coupons per day will be doubled
- Coupons marked "not to be doubled" will be accepted at face value
- Amount refunded cannot exceed the price of the item
- Double manufacturer coupons valued at $0.40 or less
- Limit 15 manufacturer coupons doubled
- Does not double coupons
If you are near a Moser's, they will double coupons up to and including $0.50
ReplyDeleteIn other words...we can't do what they show on television! ;-) Nice to dream though!!
ReplyDeleteWe can, to an extent. On the show, the 'before' total usually adds the price before sales. Most of the stores they show have customer loyalty cards. The price for let's say, rice is regularly $2.59. With the loyalty card, it is on sale for $1 then they have a 40 cent coupon that doubles to 80 cents. They pay 20 cents for the rice.
ReplyDeleteThe show would count this as before price
(sorry- stooooopid phone!)
ReplyDeleteThe show would show this as saving $2.39. Although, technically true, would they have paid $2.59 for the rice to begin with?
That is one way to get $259.00 worth of products (100 bags of rice) for $20.00.
I am not saying you cannot save HUGE amounts of money couponing, you can. I do. I am simply saying the numbers are kind of inflated for TV.
In my mind, if I was going to buy it anyway, and I can save money on that purchase with coupons. -> I will! I win!
Hi All
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Moser's info.
Anonymous - Rebecca from St Louis was featured on one of the Extreme Couponing episodes. She shopped at Shop 'n Save on a $10 off $50 Thursday.
We might not get the same type of doubles or deals, but that doesn't mean we still can't save a ton of money at the grocery stores in St Louis. Catalina Deals and Instant Savings add up quickly when couponing.
Besides a lot of those stockpiles shown on the show come from Walgreens & CVS.
