Shop 'n Save Field Notes - 6/16/11

I hope everyone is having  a great day at Shop 'n Save.  Here are the few reported issues.

P&G Catalina Deal - Shoppers are reporting this Catalina coupon is not printing.  A reader called  Shop 'n Save corporate and  reported that the person they talked to said there was no record of a P&G Catalina offer for 5/22/11 - 6/18/11.   The picture isn't very clear on my post about this deal, but I have the original picture Eve sent me with the dates clearly stated.  If any one wants a copy of the picture advertising the deal with dates, email me - couponstl (at) gmail (dot) com.

P&G Catalina Update:  Janet's reporting the P&G Catalina coupon has printed for her this morning.  If you didn't get one, check the original post to see if you purchased the correct products and contact Catalina Marketing. Info about contacting Catalina Marketing

Stock of ConAgra products - The Store I shop did not have a good stock of the products in the Catalina deal.  If your store is anything like mine, be prepared to adjust you shopping plan.

$10 off $50 Thursday's - Rumor is that there will be another $10 off $50 Thursday next week.

  1. Hi Jeri,

I had done the P&G deal 9 times this morning and Rec'd the Cat all 9 times. I am just popping in before work and I will be heading back for a couple more rounds after work.

  2. Also on another note:

If you are going to be buying Gift Cards today, tomorrow or Saturday--You Are Going To Have Another Thursday to use them--the 23rd will be to our advantage. =)

    ReplyDelete
  3. Thanks, Janet! Woo Hoo on the rumor. I din't think I was going to have enought time to use all my $20 Cats today.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Do you think the ConAgra deal will still be going on next week?

    ReplyDelete
  5. I purchased gift cards and my $20 catalina coupon expires on the 23rd. Here's my rookie question - so I will be able to use it on the 23rd?

So in general, when a coupon expires, you can use it on its expiration date just not after?

    Thanks all!

  6. Also when I bought those gift cards, an offer for a $25 gift card with new prescription printed out. I'll be doing that today too.

  7. Went to SNS this morning (only one trip for me today) and had my best trip ever! I'm still new at this, so not much to compare to, but my total before everything was around $57 and I paid $23. Got the $10/$50 for Thursday, used my $20 GC catalina, and only a few other coupons (around $4).

It was totally the $20 GC deal that made the difference.

Anyway, my store (High Ridge) had plenty of the ConAgra products I was looking for (just the mustard, peanut butter, and Healthy Choice) so now I have the $10 catalina for next week. Yippeee!

  8. Tyler - You should be able to use your $20 coupon until the time the store closes on the 23rd.

  9. Everyone sounds like they're doing great! I'm in major shopping mode today. I did a trip last night at midnight because my store seemed low on the Hebrew National hotdogs. Spent about $5 OOP and saved 92%! Went again this AM and did find that the regular hotdogs were gone, got a few more jumbo franks to complete my list...there are only reduced fat Hebrew hotdogs left on the shelves at the Edwardsville SNS...hopefully they are still getting more in for today. Everything else Con Agra was in stock (at least that I got). Haven't gotten my fill on the Snack-paks yet but they seemed to have LOTS yesterday. Saw plenty of Chef Boyardees, ketchups, tomatoes, a little low on PBs. Didn't check out the frozens since I'm not getting any.

I used LOTS of Wags RR from the past two weeks (especially the Gillette deal, the Colgate money maker, and the Reach money maker) along with my P&G cat from Schnucks, and gift card cat from SNS. So far I'm at $11.49 OOP with a savings of $134.44 - and I have + 13.75 in catalinas along with my RR for my hubby's trip this evening!

I've only been doing this since spring...can I just say how much I LOVE SNS! I also soooo appreciate you, Jeri, and everyone on here for helping out to get such great savings. I'm super stoked to do a food pantry run next week with tons of ketchup, toothbrushes, canned items, and body wash!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Question from Eve's comment: Do all SNS's take Wags RR?

    ReplyDelete
  11. What? I'm just now hearing about the Hebrew Nationals as part of the Conagra deal - is there a list of all the participating products online somewhere?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I havent tried using them in my area (SW St Louis county) because I never hear of anyone else having success using them at my stores. Our IL shoppers seem to have better luck at their stores. The email I received from SNS Customer Service says they only take RR with specific items listed on them, like $1 off Angel Soft, not RRs for an amount off the next order.

  13. Oh my gosh is all I can say. I always save BIG at SNS but this week takes the cake. I have been 7 times and have saved 95%. I say this breaks my all time record and I have had some great records. To you Jeri a big thank you for helping me be able to do it all. Gotta run get lunch and have 3 more trips to make.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Stiffneck...

YES! All SNS are taking Wags RR and any other store catalinas as long as they have 'manufacturer coupon' printed at the top. You may have to stop in at your store's CS desk just to make sure they are aware of the new policy. Sometimes I get cashier who know about it and sometimes not. Today, two of my Wags RR rewards (the $2 from Colgate) didn't scan for some reason, but the CSM let the checker put it through because it was Colgate...had it been a more obscure brand, I may have had problems.

Tyler, the complete list of products is listed on the SNS paper ad (and therefore online) right below the offer. Don't follow the pictures, read the typed print and you'll see the specifics on the deal: from memory the hotdogs don't have a picture and also the Hunts pasta sauce. HTH! The hotdogs are a GREAT deal for all beef at $3 each (minus the $1 off 2 from June All You mag, minus the Con Agra cat, AND minus the 10 dollars off)! That's essentially $.80 a pack (factoring catalina savings and Thursday 20%) with coupon or $.96 a pack without coupon!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. That's insane. I can only hope they still have some when I get there in about an hour. Lesson learned to read the fine print next time.

    ReplyDelete
  16. GLTyler! I think my store wad just low...I didn't see anyone dashing for them (but me) while I was there. Most shoppers at my store just seem to do a big trip on Thurs but don't use the catalinas or deals to their real potential.

  17. Good Afternoon to All,

I agree sounds like everyone is having a great SNS day.

WTG Eve on rockin the Eville store and very good to know they are up on the RR acceptance policy.

And no ConAgra deal next week.

    Hope that helps.

  18. Back and my SNS was stocked. I got 5 Hebrew Nationals, 4 Hunts Ketchup, 4 Peter Pan peanut butters, 5 Sweet Baby Ray marinades (raincheck), 2 Cottonelle double roll 12 packs, 4 cans Dole mandarin oranges, and 3 Duncan Hines brownies for $9.07 out of pocket then I received $10.75 in catalina rewards.

My store still had the Pampers on clearance so I'm thinking about going back later.

  19. I learned a lesson this morning. The Whole Grain Chef Boyardee is NOT included in the Conagra catalina deal. I had to return everything and re-ring.

Regrdless, I still had a good shopping morning. Picked up GC for Fathers Day and gas. Had a $0.68 and a $11.42 transactions for Conagra products, dog food, and other grocery items. I also stocked up on meat since you can't really find meat coupons. One transaction was $26.87 for 16lbs of pork steaks AND 10lbs of of pork loin! SCORE! Another transaction was $35.63 for 6.5 lbs of T-Bones (equals $5.48/lb!)

  20. Great deals everyone!

Anon...night bummer on the chef boyardee - I'm wad going to get some also but my hubby didn't think he'd eat it. My store had restocked since this AM & was looking good ..
I ditched my plan for a few popcorns and got more hot dogs instead. my DH is REALLY picky with meat, so these are such a score! I also stocked up on the snack oaks for kiddos and donations...they don't expire until spring 2012.

Must be hidden cat on Pampers..got a $5 Pampers q earlier on $25...got a $2 one with my $13 purchase. Final trip totaled $68.65 - paid $2.65 for 97% and $10 con Agra cat! All in all spent $14.24 on my trips and saved $208.43! Now I have to get ready for work ...bah.

  21. My P&G catalina didn't print. Boo.

I guess I will call tomorrow and see if I can have it sent to me.

    ReplyDelete
  22. So I went back and got 9 more packs of Hebrews and 4 Pampers Jumbo packs. Spent 18 and got back $10 + $5 coupon on Pampers.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I thought I was doing a PG cat by buying 3 Schick Hydros, nothing printed. Was I getting that confused with the Engerizer deal that ended? I thought someone had mentioned that the Schick Hydro was a good deal to do today. Still, it wasn't the worst deal, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm very new to this, first trip to a grocery store with coupons in tow, but I would think whole wheat chef boyardee would be included. It says assorted varieties and its part of the sale...then again my cat didn't print either :( I figured it was my rookie mistake.

  25. Janet,

Is there any other type of catalina advertised for next weeks ad? TYVM

    ReplyDelete
  26. Good Evening to All,

Marcella if you want to list your items w/UPC I will ck if they qualified. =)

    Tyler & Eve-WTG =)

The Cat alert I found for the Pampers states:

Buy PP Pampers products during 6/5-6/20/11
Buy $10 Get $2 off next Pampers purchase
Buy $20 Get $5 off next Pampers purchase.
Hope that helps-You guys might want to work it into another plan for next Thursday. =)

Kelly-The Schick was included in last weeks Energizer promo =( But still a good deal worked into todays plans. =)

Sadina-No other Cat deals listed in the Ad. =) I will try to get to the Shop later =) Been a very busy day and I am trying to gather some things to take to the lake with me tomorrow to meet my Mom and DH at camp and spend the day. =)

  27. I am so happy. It was my first time couponing and I got $67 worth of groceries I can take to the local shelter and after the ten dollars back I spent $12.00. I am so psyched! I will never go back to regular shopping. Thanks for all the help on your website.

    ReplyDelete
  28. HOORAY is all I can say for today. I got $75 worth for less than $10. :) Including lots of meats!! I didn't try conagra, p&g, or energzier, so I can't speak to those. Thanks to Jeri, Janet, and all the price checkers.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thank you Janet for checking the list for me.

    I bought:
    2 Always Infinity: 0 37000 11714 8

  31. Hi All - It sounds like everyone had a great day at SNS yesterday. It is especailly fun to hear from the newbie couponers.

I'm exhausted this morning, and I'm sure there are a few other people feelining that way too. I fit in 5 trips to SNS between life yesterday. Even managed to break the register.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Awesome Jeri! I was interested to see how you were doing!!!! EVE

    ReplyDelete
  33. Jeri,

We need details. How did you break the register?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi Eve and Rhonda - My groceries are still in bags on the kitchen floor and stuffed in the fridge. I hope to take a pic and post.

Five trips for me, $3.79 + tax.

I have no idea what happened to the register, but it just froze up. The lady behind me pulled out her phone and started filming. (What?)

If I had to guess the register froze because of the rain checks I use. I told the cashier I had rain checks and what they were for, before checking out. I don't think I've ever used rain checks at SNS before amd I figured the cashier would know what to do. It wasn't like I was checking out with a new cashier. She saved the rain checks to the end and called someone over to teach her what to do with them.

After three or four people huddled around the dead register, (yes, just like on Extreme Couponing) they decided to open another register and ring me out there.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Jeri that is so funny. Did you get to use all of your 20 off from all of the Lowes gc you bought? I have decided that rainchecks are the way to go. You really can use them to your advantage. When they are out of stock at CVS I do a yipee anymore. I know crazy huh?
I wanted to say I am so proud of my daughter and her husband who at 10 last night went and shopped at Shop n Save. They are newbies and took all my advice and saved $85 dollars last night with the gc promo. Oh and she did all this and was due with my first grandchild on Wednesday. She is totally miserable.

  36. So fun to hear everyone's shopping fun! Seven transactions (thank you hubby for the help!), $70 out of pocket for $550 dollars in groceries plus $10 catalina left! The amazing part is that it's all stuff we use: baking supplies, meat, paper goods, all the basic pantry staples, etc. without too many 'real' coupons:) Take that extreme couponers;)

I've spent the morning organizing the pantry and still have so many things to find a home for in addition to 6 bags of stuff to take to my Mom-who lives in Indiana! (Yes, I couldn't resist stocking her up on basics too even if it means hauling it 3 hours away!)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I guess I should consider myself lucky. I didn't know the whole grain CBYD wasn't included. Went to CS and she double checked my receipt and force printed the cat for me. We figured it was the Hebrew National that didn't trigger it, but I guess that wasn't the case after all. I only got 2 whole grain and everything else was definitely included.

I think I may need to go get more GCs for next week. I spent my last $10 con agra cat on $10 worth of stuff we needed. I didn't think I'd have a chance to use it as soon as next week. So excited to start planning!

Still fighting with Catalina to get my Energizer cats. =(

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hi All - I used (5) $20 Cats from Gift Cards. We are buying more Home Depot gift cards today. At least we are getting free food because of that darn garage.

Lynda - I did my last trip to SNS last night at 10. I was miserable and I'm not even pregnant.

Melissa - I'm not looking forward to dealing with the pantry.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I didn't have time to print my lists or do a grocery list (I blame it on my clingy, can-not-be-away-from-mommy 11 month old), so I just ran to the store with my ipad and my coupons and tried to figure it out as I went. I was stopped at least 4 different times by people who asked me whether I was "doing that coupon thing" and how they could do it. I gave some basic tips and directed them to your site. I handed out extra coupons to about 10 different people. About 5 of them were totally grateful for it, and the other 5 looked at me like I was crazy. Eh well. Win some lose some.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I too bought the Whole Grain CBYD and didn't realize that was why my ConAgra cat didn't print. CS printed it for me, no problems.

    Staci,
When my Energizer catalina didn't print, I emailed SNS. I included the reference numbers at the bottom of my receipt. They emailed back apologizing and asking for my address. I sent it and the catalina came a few days later. It couldn't have been easier. You might try that instead of dealing with Catalina.

  41. Have never posted my SNS results before but couldn't resist this time! Used the $20 cat from previous GC purchase, $5 Ent. Book coupon, & $19.10 of manf. coupons combined with the $10 off 50 Thur. for a total before tax of .28(a 99% savings)& got back $10.50 cat. off next shopping order. YEAH!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi couponmama - I did four trips on the fly too. I don't like shopping that way, but sometimes you have to do what you do.

Hi qpons2 - Great job shopping! Thanks for posting your results.

  43. Good Morning to All,

    Marcella,

I could not find the H/E you listed on the list of PP. This promo only had about 10 H/E products and looks like it is only the 23.7 oz size bottles that work. HTH
