My $50 Budget - Saved 63% This Week

I hadn't bought any meat for a few weeks, so I knew that would need to be a priority this week. My $50 budget doesn't go very far when buying meat.

I had $10 left in my budget and planned on spending it on chicken, and then Schnucks ran the $5 Series Snack Pack deal.  I forgot all about my plans when I could pick up snack and soda for that price.

Before sales & coupons: $38.30
Spent: $10.20
Saved $28.10 for 73%

Pork tenderloin has been running $6.65 lb. at Schnucks. I was very happy to find it at Johnny's Market for $2.19 lb.

Comparable Schnucks Price: $50.48
Spent: $16.65
Saved: $33.83 for 67%

Meat prices really have sky rocketed this past year.  I would have never considered $3 lb. for bacon a year ago.  Now, I think it's a deal.

Before sales & coupons: $20.55
Spent: $8.95
Saved: $11.60 for 65%

Pineapple and cauliflower - two of my favorite items to go on sale at Aldi.  I won't pass up $0.89 cauliflower and $1.29 pineapples.

Comparable Schnucks price: $24.15
Spent: $14.21
Saved: $9.94 for 41%

Weekly totals
Before sales & coupons: $133.48
Spent: $50.01
Saved: $83.47 for a 63% savings

What did you shop for this week?

  1. I did some stocking up, too. Hit Aldi for a few basics, along with a few other quick stops.

And I can relate on the meat prices. They also have skyrocketed in Wisconsin - I envy your $3/lb. for bacon!

  4. Jeri,

I know what you mean about meat prices, we were lucky in that we were able to buy grassfed beef for $4 per pound (all cuts) by buying in bulk. We split a cow with a few other families. That is a great price for grass fed beef esp for steaks and other cuts. Maybe look into spliting a cow with some friends?

Grass feed beef for $4 lb. is a great price. I've seen hamburger at the store for over $4.50 lb.
Where or who did you purchase the cow from?

Hi Kelly! That was a good deal. I think I might like these WOW coupons. I used the chicken on yesterday.

  7. The wow coupons were great. I used one for chicken breasts for 98 cents a pound and the tomatoes were on sale 2/5 so they were only 50 cents. Great buys I will be using those coupons this week too if they have anything I need.
