  1. Anyone else upset about the newspapers going up to $2.50?? I am, won't be able to purchase as many as I did in the past. :-(

    1. Yes, I'm not happy about the price increase of the Post-Dispatch.

I've never purchased from a clipping service before, but am thinking about looking into it.

  2. I'm more upset that I now have to pay $39 a year for the TV listings book that used to be free in the Sunday paper.

    1. Wow! You might be able to purchase the TV Guide for less than that - if it is still published.

    2. Jeri - 2 days after I signed up for the $39 TV book, I found an offer for a year of TV Guide for $9.99. Too late at this point, if I cancel the TV book now they deduct a $20 penalty. Such is the way things go for me :(

    3. Live and lean on this one. You won't do that next year.

  3. Yep...I'm only aiming for 2 papers a week at most (unless awesome coupons) . I find I use more IPs than newspaper coupons these days, especially with Walgreens phasing out their RR. Plus, the Post Dispatch as a company has been less than honest in their business practices with my subscription(s). Eve

    1. Agreed, when I opted to cancel my subscription at the end of it I figured if I didn't send the renewal notice back that would be it. I didn't know excatly when it would stop so when I got a bill for 4 months of service that supposedly extended after my subscription period I thought there must be a mistake. I called them up and found out that "as a courtesy" to their clients they send you the post for 3 months after the end of your subscription and then bill you for it later. They said I would have had tohave called to cancel it to avoid this. ASking friends however revealed that they had calld to cancel still gotten the 3 "courtsey" months and been billed.. very not happy.

    2. Hi Jennifer - I wouldn't be happy either. You should contact Lee Enterprises (now own Post-Dispatch) and lodge a complaint.

  4. They tried the same thing on me. I called a couple of months in advance to cancel the subscription and then again just before it expired. During the second call they told me I owed ~$50 for the next three months. I informed them that I wasn't paying because I had cancelled and gave them the date and name of the lady I spoke with. He offered to wave the fee if I would sign up again and I refused and told him I wasn't paying regardless. Finally he agreed to completely cancel and mark my account paid. Shady to say the least.

  5. Soliloquy shady! Same thing happened to me. We called to cancel, kept receiving the paper AND got a "collection" call - which was a pitch to renew my subscription. I refused and asked be connected yo customer service and was CONVENIENTLY given a number since they cannot transfer? I also originally signed up for two papers and was promised 2 SNS gift cards - I got a message later from CS that they couldn't offer me 2 gift cards, it was one per household (which the high-pressure sales person explained improperly). I only received two papers for three months and then got only one - after many MANY phone calls, they stopped billing me for two. I will be getting the Belleville News Democrat from now on and will order coupons as needed if I don't get the ones I'm looking for. Sad to hear others getting the scam. They should be ashamed of themselves. Eve

  6. Hi All - Well, this doesn't sound like an isolate issue with problems canceling a Post-Dispatch subscription.

I had suggesting contacting Lee Enterprise (http://www.lee.net/newspapers/), but maybe contacting the States Attorny might be a better idea.

  7. I try to buy my papers at CVS because I get percent off through emails almost every week. But now the coupons say excludes papers so I guess I won't be doing that anymore either. I use to get 5 a week now I only get one and that is if the coupons are good. The CVS coupons also now say you can't use them on sale items. That has also changed. I guess my days of getting such awesome days are winding down. Good thing I finally have all of the kids out of the house.

  8. Hey guys! Kinda new to this whole couponing thing, but I live in Ofallon mo and I've found that schnucks and dierbergs have the st Charles county papers usually by Tuesday for FREE with the coupon inserts in them. I usually grab some of those on my out. It does seem that I may be missing some of the coupons or maybe just overlooked them, but the speed stick coupon I couldn't find and maybe a crest one from a few weeks ago. For the most part they are all there. I'm sure you guys have checked your stores and I know everyone is from different parts of mo and il but its worth double checking. They are usually in the entrance where people can hang flyers and advertisements also the ads are usually around there.

    1. What is the name of the St Charles County Paper? Is it part of the Suburban Journals?

The coupons in the Suburban Journals aren't quite the same as the Post-Dispatch. Sometimes they get coupons that aren't in the P-D and sometime not.

If you look at the fold on the cover it will tell you the newpapers that insert was distirbuted in and the date.

  9. Not sure. I will look this week and see what it says. It is usually the redplum and smart source then if there is a p&g insert. But, some of the coupons from the inserts are missing. Good enough for me though since its free!
