  1. I bought Vlassic Farmers Garden pickles at Target today, so of course now they are cheaper at Schnucks this week. They do stay good for almost a year though so I guess I'll get 3 more! The Bread & Butter ones are great.

  2. Has anyone else noticed that Schnucks has been taking the coupons off after applied tax? I noticed this on my last two receipts last week but I'm not sure how long it has been this way. Does anyone know if MO state law changed in regards to when tax is applied (pre or post coupon amount)?

    1. I found this document on Missouri's web page

      http://www.sos.mo.gov/adrules/csr/current/12csr/12c10-103.pdf

On page 13/14 it give examples of how gross receipts are calcuated AFTER coupon.

Schnucks has never seemed to calculate coupons correctly when a cashier has to manually enter a coupon.

    2. I noticed too! I bought all free items and had to pay like a quarter in tax, when before, the total would've been zero. Maybe company policy changed? There's a lot of couponers at my store.

    3. It is state law to calculate sale tax after coupons. Schnucks is not in compliance with the law when they do otherwise.

    4. Jeri is definitely correct about this being a state law. I battled with Schnucks for over two years trying to get this fixed. I cannot understand why other stores can do it correctly, and they cannot. I had NUMEROUS emails with corporate about this. They always agreed I was right. I gave up the battle about a year ago when a cashier literally yelled at me when I stated he had entered coupons incorrectly. I was right, of course. The manager on duty pretended to care about the yelling, but seemed to be lip service to me.

      Feel free to email corporate.

    5. In Illinois, you pay tax on the pre-coupon amount. Like today at Walgreens my subtotal was only 7 cents, but I paid 3 cents tax on that.. It stinks.

    6. This has always irritated me too, and Schnucks is a major offender, but I often have tax calculated incorrectly at Target as well. I had coupon issues at Target a month ago and went to customer service and the woman helping me was wonderful, but the other woman behind the desk was explaining about how she doesn't adjust the tax when coupons have to be manually applied because "it takes too long" (what, three more key strokes?) and people shouldn't "be so cheap" to care about "8 more cents". My cashier did it right, but I should have contacted corporate about employees willfully disobeying the law. I noticed a sign at Home Depot a few weeks ago about a class action law suit for Missouri residents about being charged tax on pre-coupon amounts, but the date to register as part of the class had already passed (June 15 maybe?) so I didn't look into it any further. I was/am irritated that the class action suit wasn't advertised better.

    7. Hi Molly - I hadn't heard about the Home Depot Class Action Suit. I found further info online. The date to submit your proof of purchase was back in June.

"This lawsuit alleges that Home Depot stores in Missouri
collected sales tax on the full price of items in which customers used manufacturer coupons or other discounts, without
first reducing the value of the transactions by the amount of the coupon or discount, in violation of Missouri law."

      http://hdsalestaxclassaction.com/LONG%20FORM%20NOTICE.pdf

I would think Schnucks would comply with the state law, I don't think they would want to deal with another Class Action Suit.

  3. Is there a limit on the Duncan Hines mixes in the "Buy 3 Participating Products" deal? Can you only buy 3 or can you buy more?

    3. I miss those GREAT coupon sales also. Every time I get an emailed Schnucks Listens survey in the final comment section I always mention that the coupon sales are what really makes me shop at Schnucks.

    4. There's a .50 coupon in the new issue of All You for the Vlassic Farmers Harvest pickles. Of course I didnt see it until after I came back from Schnucks and I'd already used the other coupons last week at Shop n Save. Still $1.99 for my favorite pickles was a good price.

    5. Hi CJ - Thanks, for the heads up. Pickles have a long expiration date - you could always head back for one more deal.
