I Saved 85% This Week

I thought it would be harder to stay within my grocery budget when the good fresh fruits and vegetable became available, but so far so good. I'll have to see what the rest of the summer brings.

I picked up eight packages of sandwich buns at Dierbergs this week. I had lots of Sara Lee coupons about to expire and couldn't pass up 50 cent buns. I've never frozen bread products before, but I know lots of people do. I hope we like them after being frozen.

I even have enough left in my grocery budget this week for my husband and I to take advantage of TGI Fridays B1G1 entree offer.

  1. Awesome savings. You seriously need to teach me how to do the Shop-n-Save Thursday trips! I have only been 3 times but they were no where near as little OOP as yours!

  2. Are the Aldi Tilapia filets good? There was a lady in line in front of me the other day buying 6 bags. How do you prepare them? Are they fishy tasting at all?

  3. Lisa - I save all my free coupons to use at SNS. This week I used Kitten Chow, Oscar Mayer, Mars. I also had a $2 Catalina for Life and .50 coupons for Weber Grill Mates, so those were free also. These free item came to about almost $25, so my $10 saving was off $25 instead of $50.

After I figure out what "free" itmes I'm going to get I fill in the rest of my $50 with items on sale that I have the best coupons for. My goal is to be under $10 out of pocket.

I hope this helps to see how I save so much at SNS.

  4. Jennifer - This was the first time I had tried Aldi's Tilapia and it was ok. The 24 oz. package had 10 individually wrapped pieces, so it was easy to use just part of the bag.

The flavor was good and not fishy at all. I cooked them in foil packs on the gas grill. I used a little olive oil on the foil so they didn't stick, put a slice or two of lemon and onion in the foil pack with them and seasoned them with a little salt, pepper and a speck of garlic powder. I put two to a pack becaue they were so small.

I cook them as long as it takes to finish up what else I'm grilling. I don't think you can over cook them this way. We had them on the grill I think about 15 minutes.

Overall I was please with them, just wish the indvidual pieces were larger.

  6. Anonymous - I have 12 Walgreens within 5 miles of my house. The ones I shop at are coupon friendly.

I purchased the Cutters early in the week when the price was 2/$4 and used $2 coupons = FREE

I purchased Ectorin 2 at a time in seperate back to back transactions over the entire week. I had lots of coupons for this product, but did not want to clear the shelves. The Walgreens I was in today still had Ecotrin in stock. Ecotrin $2 - $2 mfg. coupon =FREE and received $2 RR

I purchsed the hair dyer $12.99 and 2 ramen noodles .58 used $9.00 and 2.50 RR from previous week and $2 Ecotin RR = .07 and received $10 RR

    Purchase 2 Diet Cokes $2.50 used $2 Ecotrin RR = .50

Total for the week .57 + tax. I didn't include the tax in my post.
