Saved 82% This Week

I had a great week shopping at Kmart, Target and Walgreens. I chased a lot of great deals, and now I'm stocked up on quite a few items. I keep creeping over my $50 budget. Thank goodness I have a little cushion from previous weeks.

Kmart
Love the double coupons! The only items I paid anything for were the jelly and bug spray.

Before sales & coupons: $70.33
Total spent: $2.49
Total saved: $67.84 for 96% savings

Target
Everything but the batteries were free after coupons, and I used a Target giftcard for them. I received the giftcard a few weeks ago for buying dog food.

Before sales & coupons: $48.09
Total spent: 0
Total saved: $48.09 for 100% savings

Walgreens
I rolled my Register Rewards from last week and used coupons for free Glade candles.

Before sales & coupons: $25.54
Total spent: $0.15
Total saved: $25.39 for 99%

Dierbergs
I wanted to take advantage of the ice cream Catalina, but was concerned Dierbergs would not let me use the fourth coupon for Eskimo Pies. I stopped at Customer Service and told them what I wanted to do, and they were very accommodating.

I advise people to stop at Customer Service before they shop if they have any questions; it is well worth the couple of minutes at Customer Service to make your check-out smooth and quick.

Before sales and coupons: $36.31
Total spent: $8.41
Total saved: $27.09 for 77%

Shop 'n Save
I usually like to keep my Thursday trip to Shop 'n Save under $10, but we needed toilet paper. The rest of the family was getting a little concerned, since we were down to the last roll in the house. I told them I would bring home toilet paper at a price I wanted to pay before we were completely out; it was getting close.

Before sales & coupons: $78.14
Total spent: $19.67
Total save: $58.47 for 75%

Schnucks
I split a peach purchase with a friend and I sent in for the fresh produce rebate from Dos Equis. I froze the peaches; it was my first attempt at freezing fruit. Surprisingly, it was easier than I thought it would be.

Before sales & coupons: $19.42
Total spent: $11.62
Total saved: $7.80 for 40%

Aldi
Comparable Schnucks price: $15.94
Aldi price: $11.94
Total saved: $4.00 for 25%

Weekly Totals
Before sales & coupons: $293.77
Total spent: $54.28
Total saved: $239.49

Totals since April 1st
Total spending: $970.11

Total saved: $3812.48 ($191 weekly average)

  1. Just curious - did your Kmart enforce the 10 doubled coupon limit? Mine does so I don't bother getting items I don't have coupoons for.

  2. Me again!! Which Walgreens did you find the little Glade candles at? I haven't seen them at any of my Walgreens yet.

  3. The glade candles are at the Eureka Walgreens if you want to make a drive. But Jeri, is something missing from your Walgreens trip? I'm adding the items up and I'm not getting to $25. I went to Walgreens twice, and ended up spending more than expected because I was trying to buy up 4/12 soda and make it cheaper by keeping my oop low. And I was obessed with Kmart and went three times. I have tons of "stuff" in my house but no bread! I went coupon crazy this week and now I'm coupon hungover. Sigh.

  4. CJ - I made two trips to Kmart. I didn't even ask if they were inforcing the 10 coupon limit, just assumed they were. I found the Glade candles at the Walgreens on Gravios just west of Grand.

Kelly - My Walgreens purchases were on two different days. I had already bought my candles before I knew about the $5 off $25. I have a coupon hangover too. And the word in the blogworld is Kmart is doubling again the week of August 30th.

  5. I have so much of a coupon hangover, I havent been to a grocery store in 10 days. Thats a record for me!! But that hasnt stopped me from stopping at Walgreens a few times. I'm gonna skip the next round of KMart doubles. With the $25 minimum purchase, 10 coupon limit and my store's limited selection, I just dont get as great of deals as I want.
