With the great Shop 'n Save Catalina deal this week, there has been lots of questions and information left in the comment section of this week's post. I don't want anyone to miss the information, so here is a recap.
I've added links to a $1 Cottonelle coupon and a .50 Gold Medal coupon to this weeks deals.
Readers have had trouble using the printable coupons from the Prairie Farms web site because they don't look like most of the printable coupons. There is a .25 coupon for Prairie Farms Sour Cream or Dip in the St Louis Family Attraction card . You might want to use this coupon, if you don't want to be questioned about the Prairie Farm coupon from their web site.
This weeks, Catalina coupon will print more than once when you purchase multiples of $30. There is advertisement in the stores that says " Save $45 when you purchase $90 in participating products, save $30 when you purchase $60 ........ " Customer Service has told several readers that it won't print more than one , but look for the signs at your store.
Is it better to shop twice or purchase $60 in one trip? Will the Catalina coupon roll? If you shop on a $10 off $50 Thursday, I think it is better to shop twice than get two Catalinas in a trip, especially when the Catalina purchase requirement is $25 or more. You can roll Catalina coupons (use one to pay and get another back). I have rolled Catalinas many times at Shop 'n Save and don't know of any reason this week's deal would be any different.
If I missed anything, leave a comment.
Thanks - Jen, CJ, Nancy and Kara!
I went shopping at midnight. No Briars! Can you believe it, that was half of my purchase for the $30 back. They are expecting the truck in the morning. South Lindbergh store. Nancy
ReplyDeleteI meant the $30 purchase for the $15 back. Nancy
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to confirm that it does work to buy $60 - you get 3 $10 cpns back. Also, the Scott extra soft TP is not triggering the cat, so you'll have to go to customer service if you buy that, but they were very nice about it - it sounded like maybe all the scott isn't working.
ReplyDeleteOh, and rolling worked like a charm too.
ReplyDeleteWell, Kurt has already confirmed that the rolling works... Did for me as well!
ReplyDeleteOne of the stores I went to this morning was out of the 110 ct. boxes of Kleenex. They had the 3 packs in stock, so I took them up to CS to inquire about the catalina deal. I asked the CSR if the box within the pack would work, so he entered the UPC into the register and it rang up at $1. He quietly recommended that if he were me, "he'd just make the plastic disappear." I discretely unwrapped the 3 packs, proceeded to checkout and received my 3 $5 cat Qs without issue. Just a heads up in case anyone else runs into OOS Kleenex!

My SnS was out of Kleenex at 8 in the morning! Ugh... They really don't stock enough on these promotions. Maybe on purpose? I had to revise my plan on the fly, but was able to get $55 in groceries for $24, plus a $15 Catalina! Not the greatest trip out there, but I'm happy with those numbers.
ReplyDeleteA couple of notes: the Breyers didn't ring up right, so she had to enter the price manually. That didn't trigger the Cat, so I had to get that from customer service.
Also, be on the lookout for B1G1 Fiber One yogurt coupons on Fiber One bar boxes and $1.50 Pampers coupons on Cheerios boxes. These are printed on the boxes and NOT peelies.
My S&S (Edwardsville) was out of the Kleenex too so I had to revise my shopping list, but I ended up with an originally $60.59 bill becoming $41 and then with the $15 off for next time, I really paid only $26! Thanks so much for this blog!! I was so happy to find a blog that showed St. Louis deals :)
ReplyDeleteI went to two separate stores starting at around 9 am. Both were out of TP and Kleenex. I always have backup plans, but not being able to buy any paper products at all blew me out of the water. I walked out empty handed. Congrats to all who were successful!
ReplyDeleteI went to the South Lindbergh store at 9 a.m. & they were completely out of the Breyers :(
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your blog my total was $17.92 & then got back the $15 in coupons :) So really after the catalina back I only spent $2.92
I would NOT shop for a progressive Catalina rebate ($15/$30, $30/$60) because then you loose the opportunity for the $10/$50 twice!! You save more ($10) by making two separate purchases!!
ReplyDeleteI think it all depends on what you want to buy and how much you need. $40 off of $60 sounds better to me than $50 off of $100.
ReplyDeleteI pleasantly disagree about progressive shopping if you have the entertainment coupons for $5 off $50. You can use these on top of $10 off $50.
ReplyDeleteI got exactly $60 in product, got my $10 off then another $5 off, after coupons spent $32.37 and got $30 in cats back.
Maybe my logic is wrong, please correct me because I don't understand... :/, because I don't see how spending $30 seperately twice and missing the extra $10 off would be better than doing a deal with $60?
Natalie
I did my first trip over lunch and paid $25, but got $30 back in catalinas! My store was also out of the kleenex, but they were very accomodating and offered to unwrap the 3 packs for me. SNS customer service has really really improved over the past few years. I hardly ever have problems with my coupons scanning (like I always do at Schnucks). Round #2 is planned for after work...I should get out of there for under $5 and still have cats for next week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeri and all of the tipsters!
Spent hours between 2 SNS today. I rolled the catalina 4 times.
ReplyDeleteMy OOP-
1st trip $23
2nd trip $6
3rd trip $8
4th trip $7
5th trip $10
$300 in groceries for $54! That includes 3 cases of soda!
I love reading everyones comments. Thanks so much for sharing your expierences. It is a big help to me and I'm sure everyone else too.
ReplyDeleteSNS doesn't seem to stock anything more for a big sale than they would for just a normal day. It can be very frustrating, especially if you shop at a store where other people are sale shoppers too.
I shopped twice today, once in the morning and again early afternoon. My store still had both Cottonelle and Scott TP. I didn't have Kleenex on my list so I don't know about that one. But I don't think I've ever seen anyone using a coupon at the store I shop. It isn't unusal for a cashier to ask me, "Are these on sale?"
Did anyone who couldn't get either Cottonelle or Breyers ask at Cusotmer Service about the situation? Back in January I wrote about this same kind of situation and my expierence. I would link the post here, but I can't in the comments. Search for my "Seventeen Cents" in the search box at the top of the page to read it. Long story short, SNS handed me cash for the Catalina I wasn't able to get becaue they were out of a good portion of what I was going to buy.
I'll chime in on the multiple trips or multiple Catalinas discussion. I think it all depends on what else you need to buy or what else they have an sale. This week, I didn't need to buy much of anything and wasn't real excited about any of the items on sale not in the Catalina. But I had about $25 in coupons for a free item or coupons that would make something free. I decided on two trips because of those coupons. Otherwise, I would have gone for the $60 trip and twice the Catalinas.
I love to hear how people did shopping, but I'm a very visual person. If anyone took pictures of their shopping trip, email them to me and I will post them for all to see.
ReplyDeleteMy store was out of all Progresso by 4:30 and I had enough coupons for 16 of them! Messed up my whole scenario - stupid 44 traffic. I've decided it's not worth it to go if I can't get in by 4.
ReplyDelete- Lisa
Would some of you "experts" please explain what in the world a cantalina is??? ...blushing...
ReplyDeleteA catalina is a coupon for your next trip to the store. This week if you spent $30 on certain products then you got a $15 catalina (coupon) off your next purchase. HTH!
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks Jeri so much for this blog, it really has helped our family so much. I ended up spending $29.34 my first trip (at 10 last night!) and got $30 back and then used the $30 in cats, entertainment book coupon, and $10/$50 to stock up on frozen chicken breasts... it was awesome to get $45 off of $50! -Leah

ReplyDeleteNote that Walgreens register rewards, RR, are from the same company.
I did my shopping late and barely made it to buy a $50 GC. There were still boxes of Kleenx and Breyers left at the store. While I did spend $33.82 with taxes, I received three $5 cats and one for a free gallon of milk. I purchased the breakfast Hot/Lean Pockets, since there is a $.75 MQ.
I learned a new trick, while in line to check out. The woman two carts ahead had the cashier breaking up her load into $50 amounts and then swiping an EBT card. Too bad she didn't know the buying power of coupons.
Anonymous - Don't blush. When I started couponing, I thought I needed a traslator. Hopefully the explaination helped.
ReplyDeleteLeah - Love you pictures of the Firetruck Rally on your blog.
Kas - Thanks for the Catalina link.
I think it depends on the store or cashier you checkout through if SNS will let you do back to back transactions to take advantage of $10 off $50 several times with one cart load. I asked at the store I shop at and they hemmed and hawed instead of giving me a definate answer. I shop twice to make sure I get the $10 off $50 twice.
If anyone wants to do back to back transactions, I would ask before I tried it. I'm not saying it won't work, just know how your store handles this before you shop.
