Saved 72% This Week

With the holiday this week, my regular shopping routine was out of sync. My stockpile is a godsend because I didn't have to buy much of anything, and could pick up things I wanted to buy instead of things I had to buy.

Hallmark and Fannie May
I finally got out to use my Hallmark and Fannie May coupons, and I bought all chocolate. Whew, I can't imagine spending full price for chocolate.

Before coupons: $41.10
Total spent: $1.20
Total saved: $39.90 for 97%

Walgreens
My Register Rewards keep dwindling. I did roll a few into TheraFlu, but burned the rest of them on batteries. I'm down to $6 of Register Rewards to spend in the next couple of weeks.

Before sales, coupon and rolling Register Rewards: $52.26
Total spent: $1.68
Total saved: $50.58 for 97%

Johnny's Market and Sappington Farmers' Market
I bought the apples at Sappington Farmers' Market and the rest of the items at Johnny's Market. Neither store is the most convenient for me, but when I hit both stores in one outing, they don't seem so inconvenient.

I was pleasantly surprised to find ground chuck for $2.19 per pound (regular price) at Johnny's and used my Jimmy Dean $1 coupons for the sausage. I didn't know if Johnny's took internet printable coupons, or if they would accept 2 coupons on a buy one get one deal, but they did both. The sausage ended up being .85 a package. I need to get back out to Johnny's before the sale is over to use the rest of my Jimmy Dean coupons.

Comparable Schnucks price: $27.31
Total spent: $14.91
Total saved: $22.40 for 60%

Schnucks
My family could be called the Jack Sprat family. My oldest loves beef, the youngest chicken, husband pork, and I prefer seafood (but that doesn't fit in the budget.) And the dog goes crazy over anything that isn't dry and out of a bag.

With my oldest home for Christmas break, I was on the look out for a good price on beef. Finally, I found marked down meat at Schnucks - and it was beef. Even the beef on sale with an additional 25% off was over my "buy price" of $2 a pound, but my oldest will be gone again in a few weeks.

Before sales & coupons: $37.83
Total spent: $18.47
Total saved: $19.36 fro 52%

Aldi
Comparable Schnucks price: $21.24
Aldi price: $16.18
Total saved: $5.06 for 24%

Weekly Totals
Before sales & coupons: $189.74
Total spent: $52.44
Total saved: $127.30 for 72%

Totals since April 1st
Spent: $1656.27 ($45 weekly average)
Saved: $7623.99 ($206 weekly average)

  1. Speaking of batteries...I went to Target at South County area last night. The AA Rayovac batteries at the $1 shelves were 50% off. With the $1 on 2packs Qs, they will be free, and could be a MM if the Rayovac $1 IPQ is still available. :)
