Walgreens Deals- Week of 1/3/10

Sale prices good January 3 - 9 , 2010

There are quite a few in-ad coupons this week that don't advertise the price of the item. I checked prices at the Walgreens I shop, and have noted the prices with **. Your prices might vary at the store you shop - hopefully they are less. The store I shop tends to be on the higher end of prices.

Remember, you can roll Register Rewards. Take a look at Quick Tip - Using Walgreens Register Rewards.

I highlight only the best deals. Take a look at Walgreens' full ad here.

  1. Viactiv 60 ct. was $9.49 at the Walgreens I shop at in St. Charles (370 & Elm). Unbelievable the price difference!!! Still a good deal for me a $3.49 after the coupons. The Reach toothbrushes were also more, $4.49. Not as big a difference, but still. You'd think all the stores in a region would have the same prices!

  2. You really have to be careful with your shopping this week. There are some good deals but coupons don't match up with sizes. The best deals I have found are on the Electrasol and the Reach toothbrushes. The Sensodyne was actually a great price with the in store coupon and the mq coupon. I bought 2 neosporin but it didn't print of the 3rr. I will have to go back and get that fixed. So if you are shopping for it be careful that it prints off. I spent more than I had intended but did get some good prices. Not the way I wanted to start off my Walgreens shopping in the new year.

  3. Lynda - the Neosporin RR may not have printed because the 2/$8 price and the $3RR are for the .5 oz package and the $2 in ad coupon is for the 1 oz size.
Reach Total Care toothbrushes are $3.99 at the Kirkwood store and worked with the $2 in ad coupon so I got 2 for free. The only Stayfree I could find to work with the $3 in ad coupon was $6.79. I'll look for packages with a lower price at other stores.
I'll have trouble rolling my RRs this week because I have coupons for everything I'm buying and almost everything is free. Will be able to use some of them for the Thermacare heat wraps next week.

  4. I bought the .5 oz packages. I have had this problem before if I go very early on Sunday. I think sometimes they don't get all of the codes in their system. I know coporate is supposed to do it but this one store I have had problems before. Thanks CJ, I need all the help I can get.

  5. Just F.Y.I the Listerine whitening that works with the 2 OFF coupons has "Restoring" on the front of the package. With this weeks $1 coupon and the 2 OFF in store coupon, it worked out to around 3.50 for me, which isn't bad, i guess but I thought I was going to pay a dollar since I thought this one was on sale for 4. The only Listerine Whitening on sale was the regular kind. But Live and Learn. :)

  6. Lynda - were you able to use the $2 in ad coupon with the .5 oz size? I was wondering if it works even though it specifies the 1 oz size.
The Crestwood Wags has Stayfree 32 count for $6.29. Reach Total Care toothbrushes are $3.99 and Ultra Clean are $4.19.

  7. Just had a bad experience at my Wags with the electrasol deal. First the cashier did not want to do separate transactions so I could get my RR. She kept making snide remarks about how I would be getting them for free....like I was doing something wrong. The manager didn't want to let me buy 5 boxes in the interest of other customers...even though there were still more than enough on the shelf. Then the RR did not print, and I was told by the manager that I would have to buy something else since I used a coupon. Needless to say I walked out empty handed. Oh the joys of couponing with ignorant employees! Better luck tomorrow :)

  8. Thanks Kelly, Lynda and CJ for the price updates at your stores. It is unbelievable how much prices vary in the area. I have 13 Walgreens within 5 miles of my house, and you can't count on any of them have the same prices. I've given up trying to figure out if their is a pattern on price points.

This week's post was really hard to write with all the in-ad coupons without advertised prices. I knew prices would be all over the board.

  9. Lynda - Sometimes Walgreens doesn't get the RR trigger programed correctly. I never leave the store without getting it resolved. I've learned to write up my shopping list and expected RR before I leave home. I get in a real mess unless I've got things written down. Let us know if you get this resolved.

  10. Tara - I'm sorry you had problems, but I love your line "better luck tomorrow." The one good thing about Walgreens is they are on about every other corner. If I have problems with one store I just shop at a different store.

  11. I agree with both Tara and Jeri. I have had the same problems as Tara with rude cashiers not wanting to do separate transactions, etc and have had to leave empty handed also. So, like Jeri said, I am Thankful there are Walgreens on about every other corner :)

  12. 2 great Wags deals I just read about elsewhere. I havent tried either of these yet:

Deal #1- Glade fragrance collection 10 oz, 4.9 oz and 2 oz candles and the reed diffusers are generating RRs through 1/24. Buy 2 get $3RR, buy 3 get $4RR, buy 4 or more get $5RR. Some of the items are on sale 2/$5.00 and there are lots of coupons out there. Yeah, free candles!

Deal #2 - buy 2 6 oz (small box) Chips A Hoy cookies, get $2RR. They are .99 each so 2 boxes for free. Plus use any Nabisco cookies coupons that include the 6 oz size. Yeah, free cookies!

  13. Thanks CJ - I was hoping to get out yet today to test the water with at least the cookie deal.

  14. Hey CJ when I tried to use the Neosporin $2 off in the Walgreens ad it beeped. The cashier, who is great, manually put it in. That would not happen at any other stores though. I haven't been out to get my RR yet. Way to cold for me!!
Jeri I am with you, I usually have it all lined out. But what threw me off was this lady behind me asking me a million questions. She was so messed up with the RR deal but was trying to get it worked out. The cashier was trying to be patient but it was very difficult for her and then the line started to get long. So I just said whatever I am getting out of Dodge.

  15. The Glade candle and Chips A Hoy RRs both worked at the Rock Hill Wags last night.

  16. Hi Lynda - I agree yesterday was way too cold. I had some places I had to go, or otherwise I would have hunkered down at home.

When I stopped at Walgeens yesterday, I couldn't even find anyone to check out in cosmetics with. I hate to check out at the main register because the clerks get so nervous when a line starts to form. I understand your get out of Dodge. Hope you get this resolved.

  18. Hi CJ - I tried both last night and they worked too. I'm getting ready to post the info this morning.

Hi Jenny - It worked for me. Thanks a bunch.

  19. Hi Jeri...
Just a quick question. I tried to print the Special K coupons after registering. I clicked on the get coupon now button and it said "no prints available for this campaign." I have had that happen before with other coupons and wondered why that is when you can click on the "get coupon now" button.

    Any thoughts??

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi Courtney - The Special K coupon must no longer be available and they haven't taken down the page advertsing the coupon.

I really dislike it when a company leave the registration page up when a coupon is not longer available. I see this type of thing happen often. It taints my impression of a company when this happens. They will accept your personal information, but don't deliver on the promised coupon.

Thanks for letting me know this coupon was no longer available.

  21. My Walgreens circular did not have the Reach Ultra Clean Toothbrush in-ad. Would these in-ads be regional?

  22. Hi Fran - Are you buy chance in Utah? I've heard from another reader that Utah dosn't get the same ad as we do here in St Louis.

Check out the Walgreens ad with using a 63104 zip code to see the ad we get here. If you don't get the same ad, I think you should call Walgreens Corp. and ask why?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jeri,

I'm in New York. I'll try Walgreens Corp.

    Thanks

  24. Fran - I also would love to know what going on with Waglreens and differnt ads. Please email me or come back and leave a comment if you find anything out.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Fran I hope you see this info. Go to the Walgreens web site. Then, the weekly ad. Click on slect antoher location and then find locations near another zip or city. Use the 63104 zip code.

When there is a coupon in the ad, click on it. You can print Walgreens in-ad coupon from the web site.

Now, I don't know if your Walgreens will accept them since they aren't in your local ad, but you could always give it a try.
