Dierbergs Deals: 2/16/10 - 2/22/10
The Dierbergs I visited last week had a copy of their coupon policy by the ad stand. It states how they are now dealing with internet printable coupons. Internet printables: have to scan, none for free products, none over $5, and none over 50% of retail value.
Remember:
1. Dierbergs doubles coupons .40 or less.
2. Limits 15 total coupons doubled.
3. Limits 3 identical coupons.
4. On a 10/$10 sale you get the sale price on just one item.
I highlight only the best deals. Take a look at Dierbergs' full ad here.

For all of the new coupons policies out there, how are they handling B1G1 or similar coupons? Technically those are coupons for the full price of an item, but since they require a purchase does that make it okay?
ReplyDeleteHi Courtney - A B1G1 coupon from an insert would be just fine as always. I haven't used a B1G1 IP with Dierbergs, so I don't know. It might depend on how the store you shop interperts the policy.
ReplyDeleteI've only ever used one B1G1 IP before and that was at a SNS. I asked the manager before I shopped if he would accept it and he had no problem with it. The cashier started to question it and I told her I had already spoke with the manager and she put it through.
Is it just me....I have had a Internet coupon that wouldn't scan at Dierbergs but no problem when I took it elsewhere. I tend to use draft ink....do you think that makes a difference?
ReplyDeleteI just received my free oreo cookies and it came in the mail, but looks like an internet printed coupon. I am wondering where I can redeem it? Walgreens doesn't sell those cookies. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteThanks and as always, GREAT website. I tell everyone I know to check it out!!
Liz--I showed the manager at Shop N Save the full page the Oreo coupon came on--she accepted it. I received two coupons in the mail--I don't know why, I hope Coupons, Inc. didn't send me duplicates. Anyway, both of my coupons were accepted at Shop N Save. Schnucks also sells them and they had tearpads for free Cakesters with Oreo purchase--so if you found the tearpad, potentially MORE free cookies. Kelly
ReplyDeleteDenise - I don't think the ink you use on an IPs makes as much difference as the way the cashier scans the coupon. I've seen some cashiers crumble the coupon in their had and after one quick unsucessful attemp say they can't take it.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you take that coupon to the self checkout if you could get it to scan?
Hi Liz - I like Kelly's advice. Some of the coupons for a free item that come in the mail do look at bit like an IP. If you leave them on the full page and ask the manager you shouldn't have any problems.
ReplyDeleteI have had many cashiers at Schnucks tell me that you need to cover one of the sets of bar codes...because there is two & for some reason it doesn't like to scan two....they said this is usually on the catalinas that are printed at Schnucks & even coupons they have in their stores.
ReplyDeleteI had a cashier at the Telegraph Schnucks tell me the same thing about covering one of the sets of bar codes!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I recently went to the Dierberg courtesy counter to verify that my coupon/s would scan before I got to the checkout lanes.
Dierbergs will honor a B1G1 direct from the manufacturer.
How dishonest to crumble a coupon and then claim it won't work. Makes you wonder is the cashier is envious of the saviness of the coupon shopper?!
Lastly, we also received two Oreo coupons in the mail....a little confusing!
Hi Denise - That is a great idea to stop at Customer Service to verify coupons will scan.
ReplyDeleteIn regard to cashiers, I think some are scared of IP's. I'm sure they get info passed on to them about coupon fraud from their managers and don't want to do anything wrong, so they don't do anything.
I'm still waiting for my Oreo coupon. I would be glad to get one.
I used my Oreo coupon at Schnucks with no problem :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Rachel!
ReplyDeleteI bought 3 boxes of Chicken Helper and Tuna Helper today for $1 each. The register took off $1 for buying at least 2 boxes along with any meat (advertised deal), I used a .75/3 coupon, and I got a catalina for $1.50 off my next hamburger, chicken or tuna purchase. The catalina was a nice surprise! I'm not sure how many Helpers you have to buy to trigger it, must be either 2 or 3.
ReplyDeleteHi CJ - Thanks for the info. I checked what was going on around the country at grocery stores and found a BC Helper Cat
ReplyDeletebuy 3 get $1.50
buy 4 get $2
buy 5 or more get $2.50
This sounds like the deal you found.
