Aldi Price Check - Pineapples, Grapes + More

February 28, 2010

Last week I complained that Aldi didn't have any produce at rock bottom prices. I didn't have to circle the produce bins to find the great deals this week - grapes for .79 lb., pineapples for .99 and grapefruit for .35 each!

If you haven't shopped at Aldi, or it has been a while:
1. Make sure you have a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. The carts are like luggage carts at the airport. You rent them for a quarter, and you get your quarter back when you return the cart.
2. Take your own bags. Aldi does not provide free bags for your groceries.
3. Aldis now accepts debit cards.
4. Aldis does not accept coupons

  1. Hi Jeri! Do you know if Aldi prices typically vary from store to store? This is the second time I've noticed your prices are cheaper than my Aldi store. I bought grapes this week for .99/lb. Maybe I should shop a different Aldi?

  2. They do vary for me as well. I have never had .99 cent pineapples, they have always been 1.99 when Jeri's are .99! You are so luck!

  3. The produce prices at the Aldi's on 5th Street in St. Charles are the same as what Jeri posts. But I see differences at times in other prices, like milk & eggs. Love the pineapples and grapes this week. I bought some yesterday and will most likely go back at the end of the week for more. :-)

  4. Hi Kim - I shop at the Aldi in Holly Hills - on Gravois just NE of Kingshighway. The guys at the Aldi I shop told me produce prices change on Sunday. Dairy prices fluctuate with market prices.

I have heard prices at Aldi vary but usually only slightly. If your prices are quite a bit different, ask the employees why.

  5. Hi Annonymous - Are you here in the St Louis area or another part of the country?

  6. Hi Kelly - Thanks for the pricing info. The grapes in the stores now are from Chili. I'm going back for more this week too. We might not see cheap grapes again, because of the earthquake and transportation problems
