Shop 'n Save Field Notes 5/26/11
Energizer Catalina Deal - The Catalina Coupon is not printing.
Signage is up in some stores about this offer and not in others. If you purchase this deal, and it's advertised at you store, stop at Customer Service - they might hand you cash, but more likely your going to have to call Catalina Marketing Catalina Marketing (877) 210-1917, option 1. See more info What to Do if Your Catalina Coupon Doesn't Print.
(Thanks, Anonymous, Sadina & Michelle B!)
Update on Energizer Catalina - Coupon STL reader Staci has talked to Catalina Marketing on the phone. The person she talked to told her the offer was not available at her store. If you've purchased this deal and didn't get a Catalina, call SNS Corporate offices. Email me if you want me to send you the picture of the offer. (Thanks, Staci!)
Another Update on the Energizer Catalina - I should have know Staci would also call Shop 'n Save Corporate. The deal was scheduled to start 5/28. Shop 'n Save is trying to figure out how to handle this and will be getting back to Staci. Check the comments for updates from Staci. (Thanks Staci!)
Sweet Baby Ray's Marinade and Ken's Salad Dressing - Don't be surprised if your store is out of stock of these products. Make sure you stop at Customer Service and ask for a rain check.
(Thanks, CJ & Megan!)
Lunchables with Fruit and Kraft Catalina Deal - This product will probably not trigger the Kraft Catalina. The ad lists Lunchables from 9.8 to 11.2 oz. and Lunchables with fruit range from 6 to 8.2 oz.
(Thanks, Michelle B!)

The Energizer Catalina did not print for me, so the manager gave me a 10 dollar gift card. Worked out just as good for me.
ReplyDeleteearly8 - Was there a sign at your store? I wonder how that affects the store. Will they get reimbursed if they start handing out cash and GCs?
ReplyDeleteCrestwood has $5.00 off in store coupons for 10 Vitamin Waters at 10/$10.00. No limit. I just used my Catalina from the Kraft deal and with coupons and $10 off Thursday, I paid $10.00 for 50 bottles of Vitamin Water.
ReplyDeleteHolla!
CS gave me ten cash back at Edwvll for Energizer Cat...they also said there is a new P&G cat advertised on a blue display near bathrooms ...but had to get my son to preschool and couldn't check it out. Hope it includes Pampers like it did in April! I also got a $2 off Playtex tampons 18 count or higher (I got three for the cat deal). I'm so excited...my trip cost me $11 cash not including ten cash back on Enrgzr cat & five on Kraft deal! Can't wait to go back later ...BTW...new here (delurking) and new to couponing!
ReplyDeleteStaci - There was a sign on a display with all the products near the checkouts. They pulled the sign down after my checkouts (in Wood River). Not sure how they will get reimbursed for this one.
ReplyDeleteI was browsing the Energizer display when a wandering cashier approached me and told me it wasn't printing. There were no signs, but she said it was still supposed to be working and that I would probably have to call the #. I went ahead and purchased the stuff. We need batteries and sunscreen anyway. The Banana Boats that I got were one Baby and one Family Size Sport, each for $10.xx. The batteries I got were 10ct AA for 5.47, reduced from 8.34.
ReplyDeleteKen's was definitely still in abundance, especially Ranch. Some other flavors looked like they had been bought out, but there were still a lot left.
SBR marinades had sold out, but I didn't really care.
The fruit lunchables did not work.
I tried the Grande tortilla chip deal, but apparently they either weren't on sale or I got the wrong thing, as they rang up $3.38. Some bags had peelies for $1.50 off beef, so I got 3 lbs of ground beef for $5.xx as a consolation.
I also had to get a few other things we were out of - applesauce, pasta (creamettes were $1), and cat food (friskies cans were .47, and I had a $1 off 20).
I shopped at the SnS on St. C Rock Road in St. John.
I'm happy to share my lists/receipts if anyone wants. I spent 74.12 (including tax) for $159.06 worth of groceries.

ReplyDeleteHi All - I have a feeling the store doesn't get reinbursed when they hand out cash or giftcards when a Catalina doesn't print. I've had the store hand me cash before in this type of situations and it dosn't seem like they are keeping any record of what happened.
ReplyDeleteThere could be state or federal laws that come into play if the Catalina is advertised and they wouldn't honor the deal. But I'm not familiar with advertisng law.
Hi Tyler - Thanks for the Vitamin Water info!
Hi Shannon - Great tip and thanks for your field notes. Grande Tortilla chips were advertised at my store on Tuesday for $2.50. I don't know if it was a one store special or not. Did you see any signs advertsing prices at your store. It's not unusual for something to ring up differently at SNS than the price on their shelf tags.
Hi Eve - Woo Hoo! Great shopping trip. I'm gald you're delurking.
Anybody wanting the Energizer deal may want to hold off. Just talked with Monica at SNS CS and she is now telling me that the deal is scheduled to start on 5/28. She is researching how to handle and will call me back. I will keep everyone posted.
ReplyDeleteSBR marinades also out at the SnS at Kingshighway and Chippewa. Plenty of Ken's though. I spent $11.28 for $47.54 worth of groceries. Not phenomenal, but it was my first time at SnS and I had three little ones in tow so I'm okay with it. :) (I had some green bean fillers in there for my rather overweight dog to bring me to $50. :) :))
ReplyDeleteOh, and I couldn't find the sweet corn that was on sale. All of the corn I saw was a lot more expensive than $0.88 for four ears.
ReplyDeleteI forgot - I also asked about using Walgreens RR. Both the cashier and the mgr at customer service looked at me like I was crazy.
ReplyDeleteShannon - Are you the same Shannon that posted in the Aldi comment section recently? If so, we must live relatively close as I shop the UC Aldi and the St. John SNS as well. What time where you there this morning? I saw two fellow couponers this morning. One offered me a coupon =) and I almost approached the other for a brief hello, but was under a time crunch. I was in the store from about 6:45-7:30 a.m. As for the RRs, I have used them there before. Next time, ask them to call Tina. She is the store director and I have spoken to her personally about this. She was supposed to inform everyone at a meeting several weeks ago, but I keep hearing that that never happened. I have used Wags MQs and RRs successfully at least twice. HTH!
ReplyDeleteCourtney - Great first trip! The corn on sale was the loose ears still in the husk. At my store it is over near the carrots, broccoli, etc.
Staci - that's me! I live in NE Ucity, near Heman park. This SnS is about a 15 minute drive for me. I've usually got a toddler girl with me. I didn't get there until just after 8. My second cashier, Sharon, said she had a couponer who got out for three dollars this morning. Was that you?
ReplyDeleteI did the energizer deal this morning and of course it didn't work. CS gave me a 10 dollar gift card. Was thrilled with that. I made 4 trips and am getting ready to make 2 more. So far I oop less than 50 dollars. Great great morning at SNS. Gotta love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeri!
ReplyDeleteShannon...I jotted down the name of the contact at SNS corporate who will verify that SNS now takes Wags RR from this site or another and put it in my phone. Just have CS call Valerie at (314) 984-0900 during reg business hours and they should take your RR no prob!
Shannon - I'm just north of UC now, but grew up there. We are just north of Page off N&S. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for a couponer with toddler in tow! I did check out with Sharon, but it wasn't me with that super low total. I don't usually get that low because of the types of items I buy, but still do pretty well. I hope we meet up sometime. =)
ReplyDeleteUpdate - Monica from CS just called and said that they are trying to get Catalina to turn the promo on immediately. They are going to take care of me regardless, she's just not sure in what form yet. I should be getting a call back later and I will post here as soon as I can. Yay, SNS, for great customer service!
ReplyDeleteHello to All,
ReplyDeleteBack in from morning trips. Sounds like everyone is Doing Great!!!!!!!!!!! WTG to Everyone.
My only disappointment is bbqradio-Please Do Not share information about using incorrect coupons on the wrong products. Marinade coupons are for Marinade not BBQ sauce. SNS will not get reimbursed from the misuseand they would have been more than happy to issue a rain check. The cashier should have caught this and overage a SNS is not allowed so helpful the cashier will not get in trouble for allowing it. When stores see misuse like this It Will Become Harder for All Couponers.
Thank you very much. =)
Hi Staci,
ReplyDeleteTYVM for keeping us updated on the Energizer Cat problems. =)
Going to get some coffee and lunch then back out for more fun.
Staci, what number did you call?
ReplyDeleteThanks Janet for catching the comment about inappropritae copuon usage. I agree it's very important to use coupons for the products on the coupon. I removed the comment.
ReplyDeleteHi Jeri,
ReplyDeleteThank you very very very Much. =)
It has been one Great morning on my end and you know I just want everyone to have some real good fun at shopping. =)
Out of Sweet Baby Ray's Marinades in O'Fallon, MO as well... Rain check was no problem (good for 30 days) though!
ReplyDeleteI did two transactions during the last $10/$50 Thursday, but only one today. I don't think I have $50 more (or the coupon match-ups) that we need! It is fun to see my % savings climb each trip though; I am improving! :)
Janet, hope you post pics of your (sure to be impressive) haul(s)!!
I must say that I still prefer my Dierberg's to SNS, and long for the time when they honored competitor coupons... I just feel there is more price consistency there, and SNS seems to fluctuate so much! I bought 6 oz. Yoplait yogurt cups for $0.38 each (not an advertised sale, just regular price) over Easter. The last $10/$50 Thursday they were ringing $0.48 each. Today, $0.58! $0.10 each isn't a huge amount, absolute value, but as a percentage -- yikes!
Janet - You are very welcome! Just doin' my part. ;-)
ReplyDeleteShannon - I called (314) 984-0900 and just asked to speak to whomever handles Catalina marketing. I don't have Monica's ext., but that who I was eventually connected to. She mentioned that Andrea had called as well. Don't know if that's the same Andrea that posts here, but might be. I told her that I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a bunch more calls.
Thanks for all the hard work Staci! I sent an email over to corporate - haven't heard back yet. Based on prior experience, SNS will take care of us. They have FABULOUS customer service. I am trying to focus on other stuff - but all my scenarios were based on the Energizer cat deal. Hope they fix it today - otherwise, gotta get one replan and move on.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Andrea, as far as plans go. I have 2 more trips planned and 1 includes more batteries. The stock was already running a little low this morning, fortunately I knew of a sidecap that had some more, but still not everything I wanted. I am holding off on heading back over there and hoping to hear back with some good news. Otherwise, I think I may just have to get some more Vitamin Water. That is a total treat for us, but since it is summer, it is nice to have on hand for outings and $.20/bottle is a great price!
ReplyDeleteI have only had one other dealing with corp CS and it was positive as well, but was for something pretty simple. CS is key!
It printed out for me at the St. Charles Shop N' Save.
ReplyDeleteKarla - What time was that at? I wonder if they got it up and running. Hope so! Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is getting the Snapple for the MIR I saw about 1-liter bottles with big peelies on them. I was reading quickly as I walked by, I think they were for a free bottle when you bought 2 6 packs. These were on a display set up near the produce.
ReplyDeleteI was at SNS in St. John this morning at about 5:30am, and the Catalina didn't print (obviously). Customer service looked for the sign advertising it and told me I'd have to call the store manager during the day. I hadn't done it yet because I was going to call Catalina. Which do you think I should do first?
ReplyDeleteHi Whitney - Call the store manager. It looks like SNS signs advertising this deal did not match up with the dates the offer was valid for. Keep watching the comments for updates.
ReplyDeleteHi Whitney!
ReplyDeleteYou must be the customer that they mentioned was in at 5:30 with the same issue. =) Still waiting to hear back from corp. Hope they call soon so I can get the rest of my shopping done! Hoping Karla's comment above means they have it up and running.
I just heard back from someone (Valerie?) at SNS CS, and because I purchased the items, and kept them after the Catalina did not print... She is having Catalina mail me the $10 Catalina directly to my home! Just had to give her my name and adress.
ReplyDeleteShe also indicated that they hope to have the issue resolved by tomorrow, which is too late to combine with the 10/50 deal, but still good for later!
Good Afternoon to All,
ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost:
A HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE Thank You to Shop N Save for allowing us to be able to take advantage of some excellent deals and for going above and beyond for customer service.
And You Guys Are Just Awesome =) Sounds like everyone is have a great day despite the Energizer Promo Problem.
STLCMom-I will post a total of all transacations but no pic as I had to plan wisely and package/put all the meats away =)
8 trips the first time and 5 the second time. Total of about 4 1/2 hours shopping-mostly waiting in line which I do not mind one bit. =) All good fun all the way around =)
I put a cut up chicken in the crock pot this morning before I left and it sure does smell goooood-now just to decide what to have with it.
Back to seperating household/donation items from today.
BBL
I was out today 2 trips at SNS and Dierberg's. Thanks everyone so much for all of your tips. This is my first time couponing and I think I did fairly well. Not as impressive as some of your haul, but good for a first outing I think. I got out of SNS spending $42.00 and that even included all the produce and meat items I needed for my weekly menu and a package of pullups. My Savings was 70%! I am having a great time and heading back to SNS right now. :)
ReplyDeleteI also managed to loose my coupon file my very first time out! :( Thankfully it was retrieved at the Dierberg's customer service counter. It was found in the meat case. LOL! I guess maybe next time I should shop without the 5 and 3 year old. :)
ReplyDeleteI heard back from Monica and Catalina is going to send my cats directly to me as well. I had CS test it this afternoon, just in case, and it still was not working, so I didn't buy any more batteries. Had to change my plan on the spot which means today's totals were much higher than I planned, but I bought things we need, so it's all good!
ReplyDeleteShe also told me, as was mentioned above, that the cat should trigger starting tomorrow.
Now, I just hope there are some good deals to spend those cats on when they arrive!
Staci, that was me!! There aren't too many couponers (or anybody for that matter) at the store at 5:00am. That's what I like about it!
ReplyDeleteI spoke with Tina at SNS St. John, and she said that the coupon not printing was Catalina's fault, and she blamed "the coupon website". She said that the dates were wrong and there was nothing she could do about it. She said she would be more than happy to do a return on the products that were supposed to be included.
Instead, I called corporate and left a message (it was after 4:30), and I called Catalina. Catalina is supposed to call tomorrow if I don't qualify. If I do qualify I'll receive my coupon in the mail in 4-6 weeks.
This is my first time going for a Catalina (I'm pretty new to couponing), and so far it's been a bit rocky. I'll let you know what I hear!
Whitney - Welcome to the world of couponing! It can be fun and exciting and there are lots of great folks on here willing to help out. Tina was actually able to get in touch with someone by phone by the time I got there. I don't know what coupon website she is referring to, but ultimately, it sounds like there was some mix up with the dates. SNS corporate has been great trying to get it all worked out today. If you have any problem with Catalina Marketing, I would get in touch with Monica at corporate and she can probably help you out. She told me to let her know if I don't receive my cats.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we'll run into each other some time. =) I think I saw more people with coupons today than I normally see on one of my trips. One of the CSMs even commented that she's learning from "us" as she went to her car before clocking in and said she'd finish her shopping after her shift.
Hi all! SUPER awesome day here! My first official extreme coupon day at Sns...spent $11.68 OOP total for two transactions totaling $134.79!!!! AND I left with $6 cash because the new P&G cat didn't print. EXCELLENT customer service from manager. New P&G cat is for health and beauty...I was able to use several high value coupons that were going to expire. BTW had $24 in Wags RR to help!
ReplyDeleteEve what is the new P&G cat?
ReplyDeleteGood Morning to All,
ReplyDeleteI too saw lots of people using coupons yesterday and could hear "Coupon override needed on lane such & such" quite often. =) And had to chuckle cause it was not me =)
I had an Awesome day-did my final totals last night after seperating my household/donation items. I was shooting for getting meats and household items that I needed for cheap. I was just trying to decide where to type up this huge list: here/SNS weekly deals/CouponSTL Traders. hehehehehe
Hi All - Sounds like everyone had a good day at SNS despite the sanfu with the Energizer Catalina. And welcome to all the newbie couponers.
ReplyDeleteSadina...took a pic. It's lots of brands! Here goes:
ReplyDeleteBuy $20 get $5 back 5/22-6/18
Covergirl. Crest. Oral-b. old spice. Prilosec. Always. Tampax. Gillette. Natural instincts. Secret. Herbal essences. Pantene. Head n Shoulders. Okay. Metamucil. Aussie. Nice n easy.
I did BOGO q on Gillette Mach 3 disposables and bogo Q old spice...oop about $5 after Thurs discounts. Way better options available on Q's but my DD was screaming, LOL!
Thanks for the info Eve - If you could send me the picture, I'll post the info.
ReplyDeleteThis deal runs long enough there should be another $10 off $50 Thursday and new P&G coupons.
Good Afternoon to All,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you guys know I posted my Insane Shopping trip under Shop Talk-if you wanted to ck it out =)
I shopped early yesterday at around 6:30 a.m. at Twin Oaks. I tried to do the energizer deal (2 intuition, 2 skintimate and 1 playtex sippy cup). There were no signs up, but there rarely are for Cat. deals at SNS. Of course it didn't print. Do you think I should call corporate (and if so, where do I find their number) or should I call Catalina. Or is it worth it to call either since there were no signs up. Oh, and FYI, they had a bunch of intuition items on an endcap with a peelie for a free skintimate WYB intuition in case anyone is still planning to do the deal.
ReplyDeleteI am fighting with catalina..trying to get my 10$ back from the energizer deal! Wish me luck...they are telling me the sale didnt start until 5/28. but why does the poster say 5/22?
ReplyDeleteHi Janet - Quite impressive!
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa & Danielle - From others dealing with this snafu, call Monica at SNS Corporate 314-984-1379.
The dates on the poster were wrong. Someone messed up.
Thanks Jeri, I will..Catalina is giving me a very hard time!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling they didn't cause the problem. It must be SNS having the wrong dates printed on the advertisement. Catalina is usually very good to work with.
ReplyDelete
