B1G1 Purex Liquid Laundry Detergent, 32 load - $5.99
B1G1 coupon - 2/21/10 RP
Final price: 2 FREE
You should be able to use a B1G1 coupon on a B1G1 sale. But, some cashiers don't see it this way. If you are not allowed to use your coupon, ask to talk to the manager. Hopefully, they will know how sales and coupons work.
Thanks, coupon.girl!

If anyone around St. Louis can pull this off, please let me know which one because they are shutting this deal down left and right. I've been to several around town and they (both cashiers and managers) are not going for it :(
ReplyDeleteHi wacki04 - I haven't been to Walgreens, yet. But I do have a email response from Walgreens that say they will take a B1G1 coupon on a B1G1 sale.
ReplyDeleteI suggest anyone having problems with their store acceting B1G1 coupon to email Walgreens. Ask if they accept B1G1 coupon on B1G1 sales. Don't list any store on your inquiry or otherwise you will get a response form the store. Hopefully, you will get the same response I did. A email from corporate is a powerfull tool.
wacki04, this is part of an e-mail I received from Molly Nelson, Executive Assistant Manager of Wags Hampton cor Chippewa:
ReplyDelete"In regards to the B1G1 coupons, yes you can combine our B1G1 with a outside B1G1 coupon. We just limit one coupon, per customer, per day."
I hope this can be of help to you. Maybe let the store manager where you're at to call her to confirm when they refuse to let you use your coupon.
I did it! I had a photoclerk that was filling in for the cashier, but she's a couponer, too! I think you just have to give it a try and hopefully, you'll get lucky too. I found one more coupon for the Purex and one more Nivea...I try my luck again later today. Who knows? I did the Kleenex deal too, for the Catalina and it worked, too. I wasn't going to shop Wags this week, now I'm totally excited! Kelly
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! Coupon.girl can you provide me Molly's contact information? My blog info is linked...

ReplyDeleteI'm glad now that I used my B1G1 coups at CVS last week, with no problems.
ReplyDeleteHeeeeyyyy!! I did it!! I racked up...thank you guys for your help!!! I went to the one on Chippewa/Hampton too!!!! It was crazy, I literally went to like 4 different stores who looked at me like I was crazy at each of them! Now I know. Once again THANKS SOOOOO MUCH!
ReplyDeletecoupon.girl - Thanks for helping Wacki04.
ReplyDeleteKelly - Thanks for the update on Kleenex.
Wacki04 - Woo Hoo! The Walgreens experience all depends on your store. There are a few stores I avoid at all cost. And others I love to shop.
Okay, so I went to cash in on this deal yesterday and got grief from the check out girl AND the store manager. The manager looked me in the eye and said "It's BUY ONE, get one...with the coupon are you BUYING one? NO". I had my 8 month old son with me and said that I know it will work and didn't want to have to drag him through a different store just because she didn't understand the coupon. I asked her to humor me and try it. She did and GO FIGURE...It worked!
ReplyDeleteWell I was ticked off because of her rude comments and making me feel bad, so I called Walgreens Corporate customer service. Soooo....This morning the SAME store manager called me to apologize, I was right...and the companies run these deals on purpose to get us to try their product.
She said if I have any other issues with coupons like this to ask for her personally. Her name is Allison and she is the store manager at the WAG at Williot and Jungermann in Saint Peters! I just hope I didn't tick her off too bad with the complaint because now I know she knows how it works!
Let me just say...I love being right! Jeri, I also love that you keep this blog up...I am so enjoying not paying for laundry detergent, deoderant....and reduced prices on everything else! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Amber - Good for you of standing your ground. Good for you for asking her to scan the coupon. Good for you for calling Corporate.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about ticking off the manager. You are obvioulsy educating her on how coupons can be used.
Thanks for sharing your expierence. I think the more people read how to advocate for themselves when they use coupons, the more confident they will be and ultimatly more successful saving money.
I had trouble with my Glen Carbon IL Walgreens too, so I emailed corporate and got a response from the store manager of my Edwardsville Walgreens that I could have used my coupon. So I am heading to that store today armed with my letter :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jen - Thanks for sharing your expierence. The more people contact Walgreens Corporate, the more Waglreens employees and managers will understand how coupon work.
ReplyDeleteHad the same trouble today in Troy, IL. Was afraid to try Edwardsville next as they are always so busy with couponers i was sure they'd be out. I may try Collinsville tomorrow or just try another cashier.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand. How is is that some people have this coupon work on the first try (all the cashier has to do is scan it) and others not? I tried mine, and the register beeped at my cashier and it wouldn't accept the coupon. She tried it more than one way.
ReplyDeleteI purchased 8 bottles of Purex last night and used 4 coupons without any problems. The register beeped for the price and the cashier entered it.
ReplyDeleteWish I have more coupons. :I
ReplyDeleteHi Annonymous - Like Nancy said, on a B1G1 coupon the register is always goint to beep for a prompt to enter the value of the product. A beep dosen't always mean the coupon can't be accepted. If your store will not take the B1G1 coupon on a B1G1 sale call or email Corporate.

Hi Nancy - Great job! If you are Nancy in South Coutny, have you given up Tide for free detergent?
ReplyDeleteI did this on Sunday at the Walgreens at Manchester/New Ballwin Rd.
ReplyDeleteThe cashier wasn't sure if she should take it, so she asked a manager (without me having to ask her to) and he gave the ok right away. Then the cashier wanted to know where I got the coupon so she could get it. haha! She was disappointed when I told her it was from the previous weeks paper.
Hi Kris - I think you have the makings of a couponing cashier at your store.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen so much discussion over a coupon by the cashier. The lady in front of me had the the same one and wow did she put up a fuss. She gave all of us couponers a bad name. No wonder some of the cashiers don't like to see us coming. Needless to say we got the free detergent.
ReplyDeleteThe sweet cashier at the Sugar Creek Walgreens wanted to let me use the coupon but she checked with the manager first and he said no. I didn't want to push my luck because I frequent this store and they are so nice and always manually enter coupons for me that don't scan right.
ReplyDeleteHi Lynda - I understand why cashiers don't like couponers. All it takes is one bad apple.
ReplyDeleteHi Tracy H - Sorry you didn't get to use your coupon. I would contact Corporate in this case. It sounds like the manager need trained on how coupons work. The store will get their money for the product.
Tracy H I to went to the Sugar Creek store and they put 3 of my coupons right through. The manager was right there and said go ahead. I guess it depends on cashier and manager. You are right they have the sweetest cashiers at that store. They love it when I come in there and want to see how much I am going to save.
