When it get this hot and muggy, if it can't go on the grill or between two pieces of bread, it's not on my menu. I'm planning on boiling the potatoes for potato salad on the side burner of the grill. I'll do anything to keep the extra heat out of the house.
Monday: Tilapia, long grain & wild rice, grilled green beans
Tuesday: Tuna salad sandwiches, cole slaw, chips, Oreos
Wednesday: BBQ chicken sandwiches, potato salad, grapes
Thursday: Grilled hamburgers, leftover potato salad,
Friday: Steak, baked potatoes, green salad
Saturday: Grilled chicken breasts, fresh veggie, green salad
Sunday: BBQ ribs, baked beans, cole slaw

geri..I have the nuwave oven. I bought it at kohl's with a 30% off coupon during kohl's cashback...so it was a pretty good deal. Anyway, I've had it for 3 months or so and I haven't turned on my oven since I got it. We use it every single day. You should check it out. And no, I don't work for nuwave! Haha!
ReplyDeleteI dont cook much but I made a yummy pasta salad today - Mini bowtie pasta, shredded carrots, sliced black olives, lemon juice, 2 spoons of blue cheese dressing and crumbled goat cheese. Boy was it good! My oven is broken so I cook everything on the stovetop or microwave.
ReplyDeleteHi Jeannette - The Nuwave is an interesting idea. Does it put much heat off? I'm surprised how much heat my microwave produces, but then agian it's an old microwave.
ReplyDeleteHi CJ - Sounds yummy to me, but can't imagine the guys in the family eating black olives let alone goat cheese.
One idea is to buy an electric roaster oven. My parent has a few over the years that were used down in the basement. I even have a cheap one that I use for the occasional turkey.
ReplyDeleteI have reservations about microwaves. Too easy to get dirty on the inside and there are tricks to cook food properly. Of course reheating a container of food inside a pressure steamer or a wet or dry steam table can also led to food poisoning.
Jeri,
ReplyDeleteI make grilled veggies every night, but I've never grilled grean beans. Sounds great-any tips? Thanks- Trish
Seriously! STL turned into a stormy hot-house lately. Even turning up the grill is too hot for me. Lovely menu!
ReplyDeleteHi Trish - We have a flat piece that fits over one side of the grill. I just drizzle a little olive oil and put a little salt and pepper on the bean and use the flat side of the grill. They turn out wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHi Zom G - I couldn't agree with you more. We looked at each other and couldn't get the energy up to even grill in this weather. Ham sandwiches it was for dinner.
Hi! When I saw your comment about making the potato salad, I thought I just had to point you to a blog I've been following for about a year now. I just read today about using frozen cubed hashbrowns instead of dicing them all up yourself! I can't post a link but the site is SouthernPlate dot com. I've loved almost every recipe I've tried from Christy! This one is called "Shortcut Tater Salad" ... You don't even have to change your recipe - she just gives a great idea on how to avoid cutting up all those potatoes! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope it's ok to post that (please delete if not!) And, thanks for all your hard work! :)
Hi Cathy - Thanks for passing on info about Southern Plate. What a great idea of using cubed hasbrowns for potato salad.
