Saved 86% This Week

I'm not sure what I'm going to do when the "good" deals hit in October and November.  I don't think I'll need anything, or have room for it. Maybe I'll spend my grocery budget on things I love, even if they're not on sale.
CVS
Before sales and coupons: $43.42
Spent: $1.25 + $17.99 in ECBs
Saved: $42.17 for a 97% savings and received $19.80 in ECBs

Schnucks
The first picture is from my Schnucks shopping trips last Sunday. Late Sunday afternoon, I was heading to CVS and figured I could also stop at five Schnucks on my round trip.  I thought if Schnucks had plenty of the General Mills products in the Catalina deal still in stock, and coupons at the store, I could pick up a few more items.  As you can see, they did.  So I did.  I kept rolling the $5 Catalina, and collecting my $3 off meat or chicken coupons.

The second picture is my trip today.  I used $15 of my Catalina coupons for this week's chicken sale, and kept a few to see if  some kind of beef goes on sale next week.  And since my Walgreens didn't have any Gain dish soap in stock, I broke down and paid $0.19 a bottle.

Before sales and coupons: $243.67
Spent: $11.42
Saved: $232.25 for a 95% savings

Dierbergs
As you can tell by the picture, I love Macaroni and Wanchai Ferry Dinner kits.  I was hoping they would be included in a GM Catalina deal.  But they weren't, and Dierbergs sale price was as good as it got.

My Jimmy Dean sausage was purchased with a raincheck from about a month ago.

Before coupons and sales: $78.40
Spent: $29.58
Saved: $48.82 for a 62% savings

Aldi
Comparable Schnucks price: $26.58
Spent: $11.30
Saved: $15.38 for a 58% savings

Weekly Totals
Before Sales and coupon: $392.17
Spent: $53.55
Saved: $338.62 for a 86% savings

Year to Date Totals
Spent: $1,574.59 ($40 weekly average)
Saved: $5,316.75 ($136 weekly average)

Splurge Funds: $11.29

For those who don't read my blog on a regular basis, my splurge funds are the difference between what I've actually spent and my $50 budget. I use it for those items I never find on sale or that I don't have coupons for.

  1. Seems another P-D expert wants us to believe that Target is the low price leader. Nothing is mention about MQ, stocking when things are free or cheap or taking advantage of $10 off $50 Thursdays.

  2. Hi kas - Thanks for passing on the link.

I can see why Target came up cheaper. There are quite a few personal and household items on the list. Even when I didn't ever think about using a coupon, I never purchased those type of items at the grocrey store.

I think the tell all is that Walmart and Shop 'n Save are not the cheapest places to shop, even if they tell us they are.

And I agree with Todd from Dierbergs, I don't find them that far out of line in prices with the other stores - at least on groceries.

  5. Hi Janet - I loved the free chicken, but saved some of my free meat or chicken coupons hoping burger would be on sale this week. I guess I'll have to settle for Sirloin Tip Roast instead.
