Sunday Shopping Field Notes

Ann at Coupons Deals and More always recaps her Sunday shopping expeditions. I love reading them, and thought my readers might enjoy the same type of post - and have a place to leave comments on their Sunday shopping.

Walgreens  - Kleenex was the only thing on my list.
  • Kleenex Register Reward is working.  I was getting a little nervous thinking it might not work, because Walgreens' new month starts today.  I had my info from Deal Seeking Mom and Coupons Deals and More, two bloggers whose info I trust.  I don't know why I was second guessing them. I had no problem with the limit listed on the coupon.  You know the store you shop best, your  store might enforce the limits.  If you don't know how they will handle the limits, ask to speak to a manager and ask if you could buy more because of the RR.
  • Holiday 2010/Winter 2011 Diabetes & You Magazine.  I had been looking for this for several weeks. Finally, I caught a Walgreens whose pharmacy wasn't packed with sick people, and  I asked the pharmacist.  He had it behind the counter.  The magazine has over $100 in coupons in it.  I'll post a picture and list the coupons, so you know what to look for.
  • December Walgreens Monthly Coupon Book.  The dates on these books always confuse me - we are nine days away from December and their book is out already.  If I wasn't confused enough before, the new book states,  "Most offers valid through 1/1/11, Some offers expire 12/25/10".  Oh, my!
CVS - I was just stopping for the two freebies and an Entertainment Book, but ended up with Nestle Chocolate Chips, too.  I would rather spend my money coupons at CVS than Target.
  •  Advil PM - I couldn't find it.  I asked an employee and several employees went hunting for the Advil.  They checked the pain relief aisle, sample aisle, and around the front counter, and finally one of them disappeared into the back room.  I didn't know if he gave up, or was still looking.  He finally came out with two boxes that looked like golf clubs could be in them. The Advil PM was shipped to the stores on long plastic strips that hang off the shelf or an end aisle.  I talked to a friend, she said her store didn't get  any Advil PM in.  I bet it's still in the back room.
  • Advil PM and Excedrin  are both free after ECB's in Sunday's and Black Friday's ad.  Each ad has a different offer number. If you pick some up before Thursday, you can buy more Thursday through next Sunday and still get another set of ECBs.
Target - I didn't get there last week.  Thank goodness they still have all the Thanksgiving foods on sale.
  • Eggs - Some of the sell by dates were today.  I did find some with a 12/4 sell by date, so if you're still planning on picking  up eggs,  make sure you check the dates.
  • Coupons - I think I overpaid by about $2.  I figured what I should be charged before I headed to the checkouts, but of course that wasn't my total. I wasn't going to hold up the line, so I paid and figured I would go to Customer Service.   The line at Customer Service looked like the day after Christmas.  Lesson learned - don't shop at Target on Sunday anytime after noon.
Aldi - I always stop on Sunday to at least pick up milk and the cheap produce for the week.
  • Produce Picks - same price as last week except of onions.
Is this post helpful or at least interesting?  If it is, or not, please let me know - feedback welcomed.

  6. I went to 2 Walgreens and didn't have a problem with either one.

The CVS on Gravois didn't have the Advil PM but gave me the regular Advil and did a manual ECB after I bought them. They had a box of all the kinds that were free after ECB at the register and one lady who seemed to be in charge was telling the cashiers about the box in case people were looking for them. BTW, the Excedrin was an 8 ct not 4...maybe I just remembered them wrong but I thought it was listed as 4ct.

  8. I drove past the Target parking lot, screamed a little and kept on driving. No WAY I was stepping into that mayhem.

  10. Hi All - I'll keep this post up since it seems like readers like it. I hope to get out to shop earlier on Sunday than I did today - too many other things were going on this morning at our house to make that happen today.

  11. Jeri- you mean you don't drop everything else in your life to report back to us? The nerve! :)

  12. Anon, that's so funny! :)). Thanks for the early laugh.

Yeah, I also love this post, Ms. Jeri. Really appreciate everything you do. Now, if only my walkable Wags will let me do (6) boxes on the Kleenex, that would be a thrill. :)

  13. Hi Coupon.girl - I am so happy to hear from you. I heard a pedestrian was hit by the Hampton Village Target last week and was in critical condition. I was afraid it might have been you. My Mother Hen tendencies were running in high gear.

  14. Has anyone tried using the 2 $5 coupons along with the B1G1 sale on the Leap Frog books at Target, to get them both free? I was too chicken to try it yesterday.

  15. Oh my... I feel sorry for that pedestrian and much thanks for your concern, Ms. Jeri. No worries, am still up and about with my couponing-walks. :)
