Just came back from Schnucks. I was going to buy 10 boxes of Post to see if a 2nd cat would generate, except I pulled a coupon, $1.00/3 with fruit, off a box.
ReplyDelete5 boxes of cereal
1 orange
1 24 oz. loaf of bread
$ 10.12 - 3 = $7.12 - 1.27 = $6.85 - 5 = $1.85
$1.85 / 5 = $.39 per box.
A $5 cat is generated.
ReplyDeleteThanks, kas! You saved me a stop at Schnucks.
ReplyDeleteI'm brain dead this afternoon. I can't follow your math.
I love this deal! We <3 this cereal & I have lots of coupons :)
ReplyDeleteSubtotal minus MQ and then subtracted the price of bread and an orange. What left I took off the $5 cat and divide by 5 to find cost per box. Actually, it should be $.37 a box.
ReplyDeleteKelloggs Crunchy Nut cereal is $2, possible rebate form on the box to get it free.

ReplyDeleteI have a post-dated question: What was the answer about taxes and coupons. For example, when I use a $4 coupon on a $4 item, do I pay any taxes?
Based upon your answer, is there a web-site that I can reference and copy/print for future reference?
Thanks!!
I remember a post saying in MO they do not charge taxes
ReplyDeleteHorizon single serving organic milk cartons are $1. Register at https://horizonregistration.icmodus.com/default.aspx?bhcp=1
ReplyDeleteand click on the "$1 off any Horizon product" button to print 2 $1 Smart Source printables that can be used on the singles - free milk!
Does anybody know if Schnucks carries Athenos greek yogurt? WalMart was completely out and I really want to use my $2/2 Qs before they expire. I don't get to WalMart very often, so I would love to pick them up somewhere else!
ReplyDeleteDenise asked this...

According to Missouri Rules of Department of Revenue 12 CSR 10-103.555, you should not have to pay taxes on your $4 item (assuming you are shopping in Missouri). This works great at Schnucks with manufacturer's coupons. However, almost every Schnucks I have shopped at does not their registers programed correctly for Catalinas. With them I often have to pay taxes. I do try to use Catalinas at the self checkout, because the cashier has to punch in those. Depending upon how they are keyed in, I sometimes pay taxes and sometimes do not. At least at self checkout I have a chance to be tax free as the state rules outline. (I have not used a Catalina for a couple of months at Schnucks, so maybe it has been corrected.)
Hi Denise - KC is correct. Sales tax is caluclated after coupons in MO. See my post with link to the regulation here;

Sorry, you'll have to cut and paste. Links don't show up in the comment section.
Hi CJ - Thanks for the additional info!
ReplyDeleteHi All,
ReplyDeleteJust an FYI: I rec'd an alert from Save a Lot that showed they had Act II Popcorn for $.79 ea. I have -$1/2 Any Act II 3pk or larger that makes for some cheap popcorn @$.29 ea. wyb 2. I am going to post these coupons for trade in the Coupon Traders area =) HTH
Today I saw a Budweiser Super Bowl display. $6 off frozen pizza or deli item rebate. Also a coupon for $2 off ritz and planter's peanuts.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeri and CJ...I appreciate the answer and will follow from here!
ReplyDeletei noticed the regular price of Activia yougurt 4 pack is now $1.98. Using the MQ from 1/9 SS makes it .98.
ReplyDeletehey everyone back from shopping and the $5 on general mills is not rolling.
ReplyDeleteI found Shredded Wheat cereal that say they have a coupon for a FREE DelMonte fruit natural (up to $1.59) inside. I love using these types of coupons at Shop 'n Save. They are a free way to get your total to that $50 mark when you are a few dollars short. Plus SnS takes off the whole cost, when in reality we are paying 80% on the $10 off $50 Thursdays.
ReplyDeleteI did have problems with my coupons and taxes. I ended up paying tax on the pre-coupon price not the post-coupon price. Since I am the one who quoted Missouri Rules of Department of Revenue 12 CSR 10-103.555, I thought I should let you know. I did go to CS and inform them about it. I know it is a problem that needs to be handled at the corporate level, so I have emailed corporate. I know this can be a long process to remedy, as I have tackled this with the Creve Coeur CVS and a local Walgreens. Both of those stores now figure taxes correctly, so I hope this has a good outcome as well.
The $5 Post Catalina is rolling. Did it twice.
ReplyDeleteso if i buy 10 post cereals will two catalinas print????
ReplyDeleteResponse to Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIf you buy 10 Post cereals, you will only get two Catalinas if you do it in TWO transactions. If you buy all 10 at the same time, you will only get one $5 Catalina. I emailed Schnucks CS earlier in the week and asked. That is the response they gave me.
By rolling I meant I used the $5 Catalina from my first Post deal to help pay for the next 5 Post cereals. I did receive another $5 Catalina. (That almost never works at Walgreens with their Register Rewards.)
Hi All
ReplyDeleteLisa B - I've never seen a Catalina that didn't roll at the grocery store, althougth I think It's P&G products that the Cat says no good on other P&G products.
If you used a GM Cat to pay for the next GM deal, and didn't get your next Cat, you should go to Customer Serive and get the problem fixed. They might not be able to fix the unadvertised Catalina, but the can figure out the ones that are in the ad.
Thanks KC for answering everyones questions and for pursuing the tax problems.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO ...I LOVE THIS SITE!!!!
