Can anyone comment on the quality or fat level in the ground beef at food for less? I'll be in that area on Saturday and could stop by and pick some up to make hamburger patties with.

Hi Lisa - I've never been to Food for Less, although I've been tempted to head out that way for one of their meat sales.
ReplyDeleteI did some looking online for fat percetages in the ground beef:
Ground Hamburger or Ground Beef - no more than 30% fat by weight.
Ground Chuck - 80 to 85% lean
Ground Round - 85 to 90% lean
Ground Sirloin - 90 to 92% lean
I like Ground Chuck the best for hamburgers. It has enough fat to make juicy and taste good, but not so much that they'll shrivel up to nothing and casue lots of flame ups on the grill.
