So, is the starkist tuna still a great deal with a $1.50 CAT WYB 5 and coupons? I haven't been to SNS recently, so I'm a little behind. Is the low sodium pouch always 75 cents?
ReplyDeleteThanks Janet!!!!
ReplyDeleteI need a price check on a dozen large grade A eggs and Cream of Wheat (whatever the cheapest package is, I have a $2 off any coupon). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteThe Starkist Tuna is a very good deal IMO. The White Albacore Low Sodium is $.75 til 4/9 or 4/19 the Catalina back deal ends on 3/19. Other varities of Starkist range from $.80 up-ck to see which kind your store has in stock. If you find the White Albacore at $.75 ea and buy 5 pouches =$3.75-$2.25 MQs**from recent insert =$1.50 and you get a $1.50 Cat back for buy the 5 = Free tuna. Hope that helps =) And it does stack at least 7 high =)
Does anyone know how much the innovasions rice costs??
ReplyDeleteThanks

ReplyDeleteAnd lastly the price of the ketchup. My third thinks its a vegetable and candy all wrapped in one:)
Hi All - I'm going to try to get to SNS to check some prices tonight, but it depends on how the evening goes.
ReplyDeleteLisa B - LOL! Ketchup was the veggie of choice for my oldest, too. And it had to be Heinz. He transitioned from Ketchup to Hot Sauce with nothing green in between.
pixie_bit - grape juice is $3.77
ReplyDeleteJB - small cream of wheat is $2.17, large is $3.68 (just in case), ran out of time before I could check eggs. Hoping to get back there tomorrow.
I don't know if anyone else buys dry beans, but they have the lowest I've ever seen them there. I wasn't planning on getting any, but now I think I'll stock up. Let me know if anyone wants the prices.
Hi Lisa B.- The Ore Ida are running $2.53 per bag. HTH =)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Staci!
ReplyDeleteLisa B.,

If anyone needs me to add anything to the list just post before I have to leave. =)
Thanks Janet for being the price checker.
ReplyDeleteI din't get to SNS last night. The time change has messed me up; it was an hour later than I thought it was and I had to get dinner on the table.
Staci- would love to know the dry bean prices.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be 'stock-up' week since I've been avoiding the grocery stores far too long. Time to bite the bullet and buy some things-even if they aren't on sale. Hoping the Kraft deals will make it all worthwhile:)

The black beans were on sale for $0.67. Those are the only dry beans I use, so I'm not sure of the other kinds. The regular price is $1.12 and I have seen them on sale for $0.88, but this is the lowest I've ever seen them, too.
ReplyDelete-Casey
OK, did some more checking and got the little one down for her nap, so here's the bean prices...
ReplyDeleteblack - $0.67 (1#)
small red - $0.90 (1#)
split peas - $0.67 (1#)
pinto - $0.90 (1#), $1.48 (2#), $3.67 (4#)
lentils - $0.89 (1#)
navy - $.90 (1#)
gr northern - $0.90 (1#), $1.78 (2#), $3.68 (4#)
black eyed peas - $0.90
lima - $2.48 (2#)
The black bean price is definitely the biggest drop from what I have seen in the past. I checked the shelf tag and it looks like the price is good until sometime in July!
I also found a Michelob $6 fresh produce, vegetables or fruit rebate, and I almost never find rebate forms at my SNS. Still haven't found the Guiness one yet.
Now to finish planning! Still waiting on the mail, but at least I can print a few Kraft Qs in case they don't come. =)
Janet - Thanks for the price checks. The PF oj is more than I want to pay so will have to revise my plan a bit. But a couple extra Tidy Cats will take care of that. My freezer has space for once so I can even buy some frozen stuff!
ReplyDeleteStaci-thank you so much for the great list! What a great help you've been. I'm not sure why I've never thought to use dried black beans when I use so many others. Adding that to my list for now and I'm sure it'll be a repeat from now on:) Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteHI All - Thanks, Janet and Staci for the price checks.
ReplyDeleteStaci - I'm like Melissa and never though about buying dried black beans before. Do you have cooking tips for me?
You're welcome!
ReplyDeleteBTW - Bean lovers... S&W Beans are on sale for $0.78 and there is a $.75/3 Q available.
We use dry beans when making things in greater quantities (think chili) and also in smaller quantities when I have planned ahead. I love to have some cans on hand for when I haven't planned ahead. We have some form of simple Mexican at least once a week, which always includes beans.
Jeri - My best recommendation on the beans is to cook a large batch at once after soaking them over night, and then freeze them in freezer bags. For our family size, I usually freeze them in quart size bags, but you may want to go smaller, depending on how you plan to use them. Then when you need them, you can just pull what you need from the freezer just like you would a can. When we are making chili, I soak them in the big pot that I will be making the chili in, change the water in the morning, bring the to a boil and simmer for a couple hours. The crock pot is great for cooking a big batch of beans, but kidney beans need to be boiled for 10 minutes to kill some toxin (just learned this recently).
Feel free to ask other questions, if you have any! =)
Staci, how many cans of beans would you say a pound of dry beans is equivalent to? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI found $1/2 nabisco cookies & gallon of milk peelies on the vanilla wafers at my sns. Peeled them off and used them on the chips ahoy!
ReplyDeleteHi Staci - Thanks for the tips on beans. I din't get any yesterday - my store was out of the black beans, but I will give doing myself a try.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever been to The Royale?(bar/restuarant in the city) They have the best black bean side dish I've ever had. I'd love to learn how to make it.
Does anyone know how much the jello temptations are? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Kristen - I haven't started a new price check for this week, you might want to pose your question on this week's match-up post.
ReplyDeleteI got my coupon for a Free Jello Temptations in the mail yesterday. I would imagine the subject will come up.
