Walgreens $5 Scenario - Week of 5/29/11
The most cost effective way to shop at Walgreens is to roll Register Rewards - spend Register Rewards on products that trigger more. I suggest checking out at the Cosmetic Counter. Multiple transaction always go smoother at a less busy register.

Check out all of this week's Walgreens deals HERE.
NOTE: Word is, some store are now limiting the number of sale items you can purchase and the number of transactions allowed. Check with the staff at your store before you shop.

i have been following the walgreens $5 scenarios for a while now and im sure that this b1g1 will not work because i actually work for walgreens and we have a strict b1g1 coupon policy. you can not use the coupon on a b1g1 sale because you are not actually buying anything. therefore this will not work in most cases
ReplyDeleteI have gone rounds with Walgreen's and corporate on this issue. On March 17th, 2011 (I have kept this date imbedded in my brain) a memo came out from corporate to all store managers stating that we can use a B1G1 coupon on a B1G1 sale. I have referenced this memo on 2 occasions and was backed by the store managers each time. Even though we may be getting them for free, Walgreen's is getting paid by the manufacturer.
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous - Lot's of people have a hard time getting their heads wrapped around how B1G1 coupon work on B1G1 sales - including managers.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are buying one Right Guard on the B1G1 sale. The coupon is paying for the one you are buying. It is no differnt than a product on sale for $1 and using a $1 coupon to pay for it. You might be taking the product home for free buy Walgreens is getting paid for the product with the coupon and will get reinbursed.
Thanks, Allison for the date Managers got the "Memo".
Hi, Anonymous! I want to hear from you and what your store said after you have read and tell this info to your co-employees. Please. I really like to know how you did with this B1G1 coupon on a B1G1 sale. And am so glad to learn that you are a Wags employee couponer. Good for you! :)
ReplyDeletecool well i will look in to it! i was almost written up for this incident as an employee who did this so this makes me happy! i will get back to u all later today.btw (not that it matters to anyone but me) but my 15% discount is really messing up all the beautiful numbers and calculations you guys post! darn...
ReplyDeleteI don't have the money right now to do the full scenario, but I had a bunch of coupons so I did the following: 1 icyhot + 2 body washes, 1 icyhot +2 body washes, 4 body washes. I stopped at two Wags and they were both out of the Crackerfuls--the second one had signs up saying that due to supply problems many stores were out of those and that they would allow substitutions of Wheat Thins, Ritz, and Triscuts. I don't know if the RR would print for those or not.
ReplyDeleteJust to let everyone know,I bought the 16oz listerine whitening for $3.99 and used a $1 mfg coupon, bring the cost to $2.99, expecting to receive a $1 register reward as stated in the ad.... BUT instead recieved a $2 RR FROM LISTERINE AND A $1 RR FROM LISTERINE WHITENING!!! MAKING IT FREE! I WAS SO EXCITED I WENT BACK AND GOT ANOTHER ONE! Please let me know if this is happening at your walgreens store!
ReplyDeleteamy
Hi Amy - Thanks a bunch. I posted about this great deal.
ReplyDeleteIt should happen everywhere. The $1 RR is advertised in Walgreens ad and the $2 RR is a monthly deal advertised on Coupon Network.
