Thanks, Courtney!
Thanks Jeri and Courtney. I took my kids today and we had a great time!
ReplyDeleteAlso, does anyone have tips for how to freeze peaches and any good things to make with them besides peach pie and peach cobbler. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJB, did you need more than one coupon per kid? I have six kids and I really DON'T want to buy $60 worth of peaches (60 lbs!!) so they can each get 2 lbs free. :) :) That would give me a total of 72 pounds of peaches--I think my canner would give out. ;)
ReplyDeleteJB, you can blanch them and slice them and freeze them in ziploc bags. Then in the winter I thaw them in the fridge and we have them like "canned" peaches. I did that last year when I ran out of canning jars!
ReplyDeleteJB...fresh peach pie is amazing and easy (OK it's pie but sooooo different).
ReplyDeleteGraham cracker or shortbread crumb crust
Fill with creamed: package cream cheese, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 tsp vanilla
Top with layer of sliced/skinned fresh peaches
Cover peaches thoroughly with Cool Whip...college and serve.
This is also great with fresh strawberries or mixed fresh berries!
We go peach crazy every summer...love them in plain yogurt, cottage cheese, peach Smoothies and ofcourse on ice cream. MMmmm! Eve
Hi All - We love Eckert's peaches in the winter. I get mine out to thaw as I'm starting dinner and put the freezer bag in a bowl of warm water. The peaches are icy cold when we eat them. I't like a taste of summer in the middle of winter.
ReplyDeleteJB - Your pie sounds delicious!
Courtney,
ReplyDeleteYesterday there was a special promotion going on through momslikeme.com so every kid could pick 2 lbs free. I didn't need my coupon and there was no $10 minimum purchase. I am not sure how it will work with the coupon and multiple children. I would just hope to get 6 bags free for whatever you pick and be prepared to pay for them if not. The peaches are really big so 4-5 peaches is 2 lbs. You might want more than you think.
We went today and it was glorious. So nice outside and loads of peaches. We had 2 boxes (11 and 15lbs) they took off 4 lbs total. I had 3 kids so I'm guessing they only took off 2 lbs per 10.
ReplyDeleteStill, I had 26lbs of peaches for $21 with tax.
we picked today! thanks for sharing - we love peaches. I will be busy canning :)
