Couponing for Charity - Rice, Pasta & Canned Tomatoes

As I posted last week, I've started a Couponing for Charity project.    I'm budgeting $5 a week to pick up items that will go directly to charity.

Here's what I got this week at Shop 'n Save.

9 cans of Hunt's Tomatoes
6 boxes of Riceland Rice
3 boxes of Barilla Whole Grain Pasta
1 boxes Better Oats (somehow I missed getting it in the picture)

Regular shelf price: $22.80
Spent:  $4.81 + $0.30 tax = $5.11
79% savings

Did you pick up anything this week to donate to charity?  If you did, please leave a comment.

  1. thank you! I know this would be extra work for you, so I understand if you can't do it. Would it be possible on your charity posts to include the coupons you used to bring your pricing down? Although it suddenly occurs to me that perhaps I could find it within the Shop n Save posts - would it be a huge pain for you to put it here as well? thanks for reminding us all about the joys of donating!

  5. I did three trips at SnS. Identical transactions. I was able to total 90 cans of Progresso soup & 18 boxes of better Oats for our holiday baskets at church. When you belong to a church with an average attendance of 25 who always gives 3-4 baskets each holiday, couponing is the only way to go!!

  6. Hi All - I love hearing about what you've bought for charity.

Lynne - Yes, the coupon mattch up are in the SNS post. But you got me thinking. Maybe midweek I should devote a post to some ideas people might want to take advangate of if thye are couponing for charity.

Rhonda- Wow! They have to be very grateful.

If anyone wants to take pictures of one of their donation and email it to me, I would love to post it.

  7. I purchased 12cans of Progresso soup this week because the EHS students come Hallowwen night for can good donations and it's better to give soup than the weird pantry cast offs you've never used. I had a can of garbanzo beans that expired in 2009. I also donated about 16 packages of razors for my daughter's personal care drive at school (plus contact solution, lotion). Thanks for the inspiration.
