Walgreens $5 Scenario - Week of 1/01/12

The most cost effective way to shop at Walgreens is to roll Register Rewards - spend Register Rewards on products that trigger more.

I suggest checking out at the Cosmetic Counter. Multiple transaction always go smoother at a less busy register.

Check out all of this week's Walgreens Deals.

NOTE: Word is, some store are now limiting the number of sale items you can purchase and the number of transactions allowed.  Check with the staff at your store before you shop.

  1. Transaction #1 doesn't work for several reasons:
    1) The Alka-Seltzer coupon in the January Book says only one coupon per deal (not sure if the register refuses the multiples or the cashier) ;
    2) all the Walgreens around me will only accept as many coupons as items you have. So with 8 coupons you'd need 4 filler items (I usually buy the cheapest candy they have for .33 cents).
    3) FYI the Alka-Seltzer coupon in the January book is only good on regular Alka Seltzer not the cold, flu, etc. which is what I was hoping to get :(

  2. @Elizabeth

    Hi Elizabeth - I agree, the Alka-Seltzer deal is not working for most people.

    1. Walgreens coupon in the monthly coupon book deduct per item purchased. You only have to use one coupon and it will deduct the value of the coupon for all of those items purchased. (At least, that is how it has always worked in months past)

    2. Walgreens coupons are not manufacturer coupons, so they don't count in the manf. coupon/item count.

    3. The Alka-Seltzer coupon in the January Coupon Book doesn't state a restriction for only regular Alka-Seltzer, although that is how Walgreens coded it. It's up to the manager at stores if they honor the coupon as stated.

    Hope this clears up your concerns.
