My $50 Budget - Saved 66% This Week on Groceries
One of my goals for 2012 was to get back in the habit of tracking my spending on groceries.
I'm trying a new tracking system this year. Angela at The Coupon Project made a Saving Tracker for Excel that I'm going to use. The spreadsheet is for a monthly budget, so my $50 per week is now $216.67 per month. Since I shop every week, I'm still not sure how It's going to work for me. But, I like the idea of what it does.
I shopped four stores this week: Walgreens (club crackers), Save-A-Lot (onions) Schnucks and Dierbergs.
Total Before sales and coupons: $120.95
Total Spend $41.25
Total Saved $79.79 for a 66% savings
Where did you shop at this week and what did you stock up on?

ReplyDeleteHi Stacy - Egiht O'Clock coffee was $3.99 after coupon at Schnucks. My store was out of Beggin Strip and I just wasn't in the mood to run all over looking for them. I even forgot to get a raincheck.
4 free Beggin Strips, 6 Lean Cuisines, juice, lettuce, tuna and milk at Schnucks. 4 free Nivea lip care at CVS. That was my only shopping for the week, I didnt need much and the deals havent been that great for me lately.

ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon to All,
ReplyDeleteWay To Go Jeri!!!!! =)
I did hit SNS and Schnucks this week but not for much. I might do another round at Schnucks for the P&G and Nestle deals.
Also the Beggin Strips are running $1 til 1/15 so a little more time to find them. Also another coupon in this weeks inserts for -$2/2. HTH
I only shopped at Shop 'n Save (dairy, produce, Red Gold salsa for $1 per jar) and Dierbergs (produce, bagels, English muffins) this week. Spent $24, part of which was covered by a gift card. I'd hoped to stop by Target to pick up cheap Activia yogurt but wasn't able to. Maybe tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteHi All - Thanks for chiming in. I love hearing about where others are shopping and what they are buying.
ReplyDeleteOk, great deals but what are you going to eat? This is what I don't get. I love using coupons and have saved a lot but I still have to get milk, eggs, bread, meat to feed my family. Do you have food money and coupon money? I mean if you are just spending 50 does that include your food for the week?

ReplyDeleteHi - Good question. This week was a little different for me.
I usually shop on Sunday's (Aldi & the drug stores) and Thursday (grocery stores). Since the holiday was on Sunday, I went to Alid on Saturday and picked up Milk and bread.
I will be posting all that I buy. You will see that I might stock up on meat one week to stick in the freezer and then the next not buy any meat at all.
What I buy is not so much for what we eat the currect week, except for perishables, but for the future.
Thanks. That is what I need to learn. I am kind of new to all this. I do great on personal items. Being a single mom I would always get my bath stuff from the dollar store. Now I am getting my teenage boys the good stuff for less/free. They are loving it. My 18 old said "Using coupons puts you in such a good mood. And we now have stuff that suds" So, thank you. You don't know how you have helped me. I read you every day. Reading and learning from you has brought savings, good mood and suds. Thank You....

ReplyDeleteHi Annie - My favorite part of couponing when I started was getting the "expensive" shampoo & conditioner for a lot less than I paid for the cheap stuff and sometimes even free.
Now, I get excited about a great deal on meat and even pass up the really cheap shampoo. You'll get there too.
