    1. Hi Cathy - I've heard of others mentioning more points than expected. So far so good for this new program!

    2. The signage at my Walgreens had 2,000 points for one deodorant, not 1,000 points. Going to stock up on deodorant for sure.

    3. Tried this today, Weds, and it has been corrected, only 1000 points per deodorant.

    4. Thanks for the info, sorry I missed out on the good deal :(

  2. This morning, I bought 2 Mitchum, 2 ID gum, 2 Halls drops, and the Blistex. All were well-stocked and already tagged (rare occurance at my store!). I got the 4000 points I expected, plus 2x 1000 bonus for something. I think they're probably throwing out extra points for your first purchase or hitting milestones or something. Between those points and my RR, my shopping trip cost me less than $1 today!

The store was also having trouble with the rewards system this morning- it wasn't letting people sign up in store, but it was working if you'd registered online ahead of time. Just a heads up for others!

  3. I would like to make a request to my fellow Walgreens shoppers: please be patient with the cashiers, many of them are as in the dark as we are. I do not work for Walgreens but I am a subcontractor. I believe that I know more about how the new balance rewards program works than a lot of them do. Thanks to sites like this, I've been able to figure as much as I have. Oh, you may start to notIce new greetIngs and farewells. The staff Is supposed to greet customers wIth "welcome to walgreens" when you leave they're supposed to say "thank you and be well" Good luck out there.

    1. Hi trod1972 - Thanks for the reminder to be patient.

I haven't heard any complaints about the new program. I agree with you that couponers know more about almost any stores coupon policies/prograns than employees do - so little training on coupons at any store.

I would think that couponers being more informed on what is going on with the program will make them more understanding of change, but the Walgreens employees must be having to explain the program to the long time non-coupon Walgreens shopper, and that might not be easy to do.

But, I don't think RR were any better. I can't tell you how many times I stood behind a shopper that didn't understand RR and want the the money off the product and not the coupon to spend later.

  6. Did my 2nd Balance Rewards purchase yesterday and it went great - 500 pts for a prescription, another 1000 for 2 more gum and got another 1000 "bonus" pts, still not sure what thats about but I'll take it! I have 5500 pts already :)

  7. The Mitchum is 2000 pts for each one purchased. I bought 2, used my Q and received 4000 pts for a MM! I like this so far :)!!

    1. Thanks, Ali, I'll try the Mitchum tomorrow.

I got to see how the redemption process works today. Once you have enough points to redeem, the register screen asks if you want to redeem your points on that purchase or keep them. Very easy to do. I am liking the new program and it all makes sense now that I've done it a few times.

    2. Hi CJ - Thanks for the insight on how the redemption process works. Those points got credited to your account quickly.

    3. Redemption is the downfall of this program. You will not earn points on any items if you redeem points to pay for them.

Register Rewards, you could use a Kraft RR to pay for a Pampers item. Managers have told me RR purchases will disappear from the ads in 2 weeks. Only Balance Points will be offered. If I can't use Balance Points I earned last week to buy Balance Point items the following week, then what's the use?!?

I hate to say, this system is going to be the end of couponing at Wags...

    4. I guess I need to clarify, you could use a Kraft RR to pay for a Pampers item which would spit out a new RR to use your next transaction.

Balance points are not brand specific, they are point specific. If an item offers points if you purchase it, you cannot redeem points to pay for it, unless you want to not earn new points.

    5. I was never big on rolling my RRs into other RRs, so not being being able to roll my points into other points doesnt bother me. There are plenty of things at Walgreens to spend my points on.

    6. The jury is still out on what I think of the new program. I just posted next week's sneak peek and there are not near as many good Balance Reward deals, but there are some good RR deals.

I've only seen the ad scan through 9/30. Still RR deals in that ad.

  8. Hi CJ and Ali - I haven't heard anything but good things about the new Balance Rewards. This new program might be a huge improvement over RR.

  9. I have a question about the points. If I buy 2 packs of HuggiEs in the same transaction will I get 1000 pts for each pack or just rewarded for one pack?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Bridget - At this point, there has not been limits on how many points are rewarded if you purchase multiple items. If you buy 2 Huggies you should receive 2,000 points.

New points earned show up on your receipt. So, you can tell right away what points you have earned.

There could be limits on who many points you can earn per item, so we will have to watch and see what happens in the futer.
