  1. So I am a new CVS shopper since a new location recently opened close to me. Can I use ECB to pay for items that I will receive more ECB's? And is CVS like Walgreen's, do I have to have at least the number of items as coupons? Just curious.

    1. Rethink everything you know about couponing at a drug store.

      CVS
Use ECBs to pay for more products triggering ECBs - even if it's the same product
No fillers needed - they don't count as a manf. coupon
      ECBs can be reduced
If a ECB didn't print for some reason, cashiers can fix the problem
      Expire in 30 days
      Rain checks - include ECBs

      You'll love shopping at CVS!

    3. Hi Valerie - The $1 command coupon I find in Deal Seeking Mom's Coupon Data base is an image file.

I'm made it a policy not to post any coupon that I can't link to from a website because I don't know what the manufacturers intensions were for that coupon's distribution. But, that doesn't mean that it might no be ok to use.

  2. I'm new to CVS shopping as well and I'm nervous! I'm scared black friday may be the first time I shop at a CVS (I'm going to try to get in there early next week though to get adjusted a bit). But I have no clue how to coupon there! Where can I get a crash course in CVS couponing and dealing with cashiers/managers. Not just how to use coupons there, but do they often run out of things? Are they crazy busy on black friday? Thanks!

    1. You will love CVS!

Jeri had good advice. Here are some more suggestions. Consider joining the Beauty Club. It is free! For every $50 you spend on beauty products you get a $5 ECB. Just from beauty items that are free or nearly free after EBCs, I save quite a bit with that extra bonus. The accumulated value does expire at the end of the year, so it may not do you much good this year. I do imagine they will continue it next year. Also purchase a green tag for $1. Take your own bags every time you shop. Have them scan the green tag. After four scans you get an ECB for $1. These two EBCs are only good for two weeks.

If CVS is out of something, you can get a rain check. The exception is seasonal or promotional products.

CVS will be crazy busy, but there are limits as Jeri posted. That means people will get the 1 or 2 they can get and go home. There will probably be other couponers there. We are all pretty nice. ;-)

As with all new things it can take a while to learn all the ins and outs, but I am sure you will enjoy shopping at CVS.

    2. Try to roll your ECBs for less out of pocket expense but be mindful of the line when you're checking out. :)

I miss shopping at CVS even though most of the time I was just able to get rainchecks. I don't even remember that last time I was there. I miss the money off e-mail coupons and I wonder if they have improved on their shelf stocking up. :I

    3. Hi CVS Newbie - Don't be nervous CVS is easy to use coupons at. I've always found the employees and management to be very coupon friendly.

But, don't wait until Thanksgiving to shop. The best freebie deals start on Sunday. They will be busy, but I've still found them to be very helpful - even when it's crazy busy.

They do run out of stock, but their rain checks include ECB's - unless the ad states otherwise (Sometime they get product in for a one time sale.)

If you are there when it is crazy busy and need rain checks, it might be better telling them you would come back later in the week to get your rain checks. They remember the customers who are respectful of how busy they are.

    4. Coupon Girl - I shop at CVS on Sunday afternoons usually and it's been a long time since I've found stock to be an issue. I don't mine the rain checks. Sometime they work to your advantage because you can buy when a good coupon is in effect.

I don't get the money off coupons any more either.

    5. I received money off coupons in my email for about a year, then they stopped for about another year. I now receive them every week again. I read somewhere that they do that so everyone does not have them at the same time.

    6. I think it's been at least a year for money off coupons for me. I must be due to be put back on the list.

  3. Can't wait to visit CVS this weekend! Has anyone figured out the best way to roll these for the lowest OOP cost without driving the cashier crazy with 30 different transactions?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you want to keep your OOP low, you need to buy the things that are money makers in your first orders. (None of the moneymakers are very expensive, so you might want to make that your first order.) Then use those ECBs to buy some other things worth the amount of those ECBs. Just keep doing that until you have everything you want. You will end up with ECBs worth more than you paid OOP. My store is very good about letting me do multiple transactions. However, I do always go to the end of the line after each one and have my items well organized.

    2. Coming up with a shopping scenario is on my to-do list today. I'll post it hopefully before noon.

Not only would 30 transaction drive the cashier crazy - it would drive me crazy too.

  4. I don't shop on Sundays, does anyone know the restocking days of CVS in St. Peters or O'Fallon, MO area? I could always get rainchecks, but I don't live extremely close to a CVS, it'll still be at least a 15 min drive, so I don't want to make a ton of extra trips. Thanks!

And the limit, is that for the day, or for the week or length of sale?
Also, if something has a limit of 2, can I buy both in the same transaction and receive ECB for both? Or do I need to buy them in different transactions but I can use the ECB for one on the other right?
Also, how long do ECBs take to expire?
Thanks! I plan on going there today to check it out and get use to it before going next week ;)

    1. Answers to your questions:
The limit is for the whole week.
If the limit is 2, you may buy them at the same time. However, if the product gives a $5 ECB, you will get a $10 ECB as opposed to 2 $5.
When the limit is 2 you can buy one and get the ECB, then immediately do another order and use that ECB to pay for the same product and get another ECB.
Product ECBs expire in 4 weeks. Green Tag and Beauty Club ECBs expire in 2 weeks.

Trust me, CVS can be tricky at first, but you will love shopping there!

    2. Thanks KC for answering the readers questions.

The sale is over on Wednesday, so I doubt the stores would have a chance to restock.

    3. Awesome thanks! It doesn't seem as hard as Walgreens and it seems better! I read over CVS coupon policy and it was so easy to read and understand, they really are pro coupon so I'm excited to start shopping there.

Couponing is a huge learning experience, there should be college degrees in this! lol
