Order of Coupons at Schnucks
It's not unusual to have to spend time at the Customer Service counter getting our coupon transactions straightened out, or for a cashier to have problems scanning a Wednesday WOWS! coupon.
We can make life easier for ourselves and the Schnucks employees if we - always hand a Schnucks Coupon to the cashier before manufacturer coupons.
Kelly left this message in the comments, and I wanted to make sure everyone saw it.
Hi fellow couponers -
I learned something this evening I wanted to share as I have run into this issue before but didnt understand why and it was never explained to me as clearly until tonight [not at the fault of the cashiers, I truly do not think they understood!]
Customer service on K [big shout out to them!!] explained any time you have a Schnucks coupon - whether it is a drive time, Wednesday WOW or even out of their book, have the cashier ring first. These coupons need to be applied when the transaction is still "open" - before they "close" it for payment. All manufacturers coupons get applied for payment when the transaction is closed.
If they get a Schnucks coupon after they started applying the payment, the transaction has to be reopened. This seems to confuse the system and it reapplies coupons, but I have yet to see it apply them correctly. It changes coupon and double/triple amounts. Customer service and I went through my transaction and she had to pay me back over $3.50 because coupons didnt reapply correctly. She said she has seen it before when she was ringing and I know I have had this happen twice today, and many times in the past.
Just wanted to pass this along as it is confusing and not all Schnucks employees will understand what happened.
Kelly
thanks for sharing this. so is it best to hand them the schuncks coupon first then hand them the rest after they closed out the transaction?
ReplyDeleteCorrect. I'm in such a habit of doing the exact opposite because it work better with store coupon last at Walgreens.
DeleteOh yes, I learned this a long time ago. Because a cashier got a little upset with me because she had to go back into the order and do everything over. She told me that these coupons need to be the first thing done, like you said, while they're still "in" the order. Another thing, if you have a WOW coupon and want to go to self checkout, after scanning your items, scan the coupon right away, do not say that you're "finished" and want to pay or apply coupons, it won't work.
ReplyDeleteI had trouble with the Kix/Wheaties cereal deal the first day. When the cashier scanned the cereal coupons they only tripled up to the $1.47 which we figured out was correct. But after that, all of my coupons only tripled to $1.47. CS fixed and we weren't sure why it did that. I had two more of those cereal coupons I used yesterday and just held them to the end. Then they all scanned correctly.
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea - Sound to me their register program has a mind of it's own, or maybe just overworked on the Super Coupon weeks.
DeleteHi Andrea -
ReplyDeleteWere you using a Schnucks coupon at all? That is what happened to mine for the rest of my $.75 coupons, even though originally they all tripled beautifully [and I was watching carefully!]. It was when the Schnucks coupon had to be applied that it went all wonky!
Kelly
Their are problem a Schnucks with the scanning registers. Some products are not scanning and the coupons are are not tripling, " BEWARE" Stay on top of them, Stay on top of them, Stay on top of them. the cashers are great people but they are not watching.
