Shop 'n Save Deals: 3/03/13 -3/09/13

Shop 'n Save Coupon Match-Ups:  March 3 - 9, 2013

It has been a long time since I've shopped at Shop 'n Save and I debated not even posting Shop 'n Save deal this week.

But, I know many people are loyal P&G Customers and they might want to take advantage of the Catalina Deal.  And, others might want to use the Shop 'n Save deals to compare prices with what they have been paying after Super Double or Triple coupons at Schnucks & Dierbergs.

Take a look at this week's ads HERE. My match-ups are from the Weekly and In-store Special ad.

Remember:
Shop 'n Save accepts internet printable coupons up to 50% of the product retail price. (** I've noted coupons that are over 50% of the sale price in the match-ups.) Take a look at Shop 'n Save Internet Printable Coupon Acceptance Policy.

  1. I haven't shopped there once since I started coupling! Their policy is so picky and they deals aren't as good as the competition.

    1. I had to laugh at your comment. When I first started couponing, SNS was the only store I was shopping at. They offered $10/$50 every week, there were (6) $5/$50 coupon in the Entertainment Book, and they seemed to have a big Catalina deal almost every week. It wasn't difficult to save 90% on a shopping trip.

Oh, how thing have changed. I'm trying to remember the last time I shopped there.

    2. Funny I just told my husband this morning that I went there for the first time in months. I only went because he really likes the Reser's sides items. Did luck out and find some good cpns on tear pads though:)

    3. I used to always find good Beer Rebates at SNS. I should stroll through the store every once in a while to check for rebates and coupons.

  2. Er... couponing. Damn auto-correct.

  3. It seems doubtful the promotions are going to improve at Shop 'n Save unless SuperValu finds a buyer for it. Their customer service is starting to suffer as well and I don't know if it's because corporate itself no longer cares or if it's a case of some of the workers throwing in the towel because they feel like they're on a sinking ship.

What I find particularly baffling about Shop 'n Save is they know how successful Dierbergs and Schnucks have been with their triple coupons and super doubles in recent months, yet most Shop 'n Save clerks I've encountered during this time have been as contemptuous of couponers as ever. Their own store has perhaps the least generous coupon policy of any grocery store in the area and they still manage to grumble about the coupons they have to accept!

    1. I'm under the impression that Super Value sold the stores they could, and now have just a few chains they are going to hang on to. I've heard benefits and hours have been cut for at least some employees.

I always feel like an employee treats a customer the same as how they feel they are being treated by management. In the past at least, the attitudes at stores were very different at different locations. Obviously some good managers and some no so much.

  4. Thank you for posting all store weekly updates no matter what. Thank you for all you do! I did read that coupon use in general is down 17 percent because people are finding that you have to buy several items to get the deal. Sometimes you only want one or can't afford so many so you skip the coupon and just buy generic. Also, the second reason they say is the amount seems to be less per item on the coupon value. Even if coupon use is down we so appreciate your expertise when you say something is a deal or not.

As for Shop and Save I do appreciate their 10 dollar off 50 dollar purchase Thursdays, but they seem to have fewer of those, or is that my imagination?

    1. It's not your imagination. So far, one in 2013 and I was surprised to see it.

Coupon values are way down since I started couponing in 2008 - at least for food items. I remember $1/1 Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamer coupons. But, I think that was the year they were first on the market.

    2. Oh, yeah Jeri those were the good ole days. I bought so many of those puppies (I think 80, they had them on sale every week it seems)for .10-.20 each. I went to Memphis to visit my grandmother & aunt gave them 20 each & they loved them and my aunt still talks about how good/convenient they are.

  5. I just read some interesting info. It was announced today that SNS will be getting a new president. It looks like Super Value is starting to make some changes.

  6. I feel bad for not shopping at SNS much lately, it used to be my main store. I still go there if I just need a few items that arent on sale anywhere else, and they have the best pork cutlets. I'm hoping the new leadership will improve things there with better prices and special offers.

    1. I'm with Jeri on this. I've encountered the same experiences lately at SNS. In this new working era it seems when new corporate leaders come in, everything is stripped/tightened on workers & service goes down the drain from lack of moral of the employees. Also, this method usually trickles down unto customers in another way...lack of deals. I hope not, but past trends in business indicate otherwise.

  7. i haven't coupon shopped at sns in almost a year and that was where i did mainly all my coupon shopping with an occasional stop at schnucks n dierbergs

  8. I hope the Doubles/triples Schnucks & Dierbergs are offering encourages SNS to hop on board as well in the spirit of being competitive with them(at least double to .50) & keep $10/$50 Thursdays.
