Kmart Freebies - Week of 8/16

Kmart is doubling coupons, up to $2, in the St Louis area (Missouri & Illinois) the week of August 16th.

Check out your local ad if you live elsewhere. If your Kmart is doubling coupons, it is advertised in the weekly circular.

Kmart has posted (3) free with purchase coupons on their web site. FREE Cotton Swabs with $20 purchase, FREE Rubbing Alcohol with $15 purchase, and FREE Peroxide with $20 purchase. I read the fine print and still can't tell exactly how I can use these coupon. But I'm taking them with me on Sunday.

Update on Kmart coupons for free products: I talked a store manager about these coupons. She didn't know they existed and proceeded to read the coupon aloud to me. I asked several times if the purchase requirement was before or after coupons. I never got an answer and decided I didn't need rubbing alcohol, cotton swabs or peroxide even if it was free.

I will continue to add deals to this post throughout the week. Check back before you go shopping. And please, leave a comment with the great deals you found.

Double Coupon Details:

  • Participating stores only will double coupons up to $2 with a purchase of $25 of more in grocery and drugstore merchandise.
  • Limit 10 coupons per customer per day.
  • You may only purchase 4 of the same items using double coupons.
  • Excludes Buy One, Get One offers, Kmart savings coupons and Kmart Store coupon.
  • Amount of credit from doubling a coupon cannot exceed the current retail price of a single item.
  • NO cash or in-store purchase credit will be awarded for any amount exceeding the retail price of the item.
  • Limit 1 coupon for each item purchased.
  • Only 1 coupon will be doubled per item.
Additional notes:

  • I have seen many products at Kmart long past their use by date. Check every product you want to purchase.
  • Coupons for multiple items ($1 off 2) might not double for the entire amount. I stay away from those coupons if the cost of one item is less that than doubled coupon.
  • Kmart doesn't always mark their sale items. Check the prices at the price check scanner in the aisle.

Check out My Frugal Adventures for lots of other possible coupon match-ups. I said possible because there are a lot of coupon match-ups on blogs, but they don't always match the prices and products I saw at my local Kmart or with coupons available in the St Louis Post-Dispatch.

  1. My Kmart has a limited selection and higher prices than what I see posted in blogs. I got there at 10 am today and several items were either sold out already or not stocked at all. All the Visine was over $5 and the deodorant aisle was so clogged with shoppers that I couldn't even get in there! But I did get Kotex and Ajax for free and made $4 profit on Rice Krispies. Click on my name for photo and details.

  2. K-Mart in Fairview Heights was STRICTLY enforcing the 10 coupon limit today. :(

  3. According to the manager at the O'Fallon, MO store, only one K-mart coupon can be used in a transaction. I had a $5/$50 and also the free Kleenex w/$15 of school supplies (in the Sun. flyer). I gave the $5 coupon 1st and then the Kleenex one and it was rejected. If you look at the fine print on the K-mart coupons, it probably says "limit (1) Kmart savings coupon redemable per transaction". All of mine say that and that is why my Kleenex thing was rejected.

Some of my deals (sorry I don't know what flyers my coupons came from)....
Pert Plus 2/$5. FREE--I used $1.50/1. Plus some had stickers for a MIR for purchase price! I bought 4.
SoftSoap liquid hand soap, $2. FREE--I used $1/1 and bought 2.
2 boxes of the Hartz dog biscuits you mentioned--FREE.
    2 packs of Hartz cat treats, $1.79. FREE--I used $1/1. Bought 2.
Right Guard Xtreme Fast Break, 2/$5. Bought 2 & paid .50/each after $1/1 coupons.
Dial liquid hand soap, 2/$3. Used .55/1. Paid just .40/each.
Mead Flex binders, $7.99 (college-bound son has been wanting these). Paid $3.19 each for 2 binders after $2/1 coupons and the 10% discount w/the $5/$50.
Purex 3-in-1 refills, $5.50. After 10% discount and $1/1 coupons, just $2.95 each. Plus got $4/$4 catalina.

I'll be heading back later in the week to use some more of my higher-dollar coupons. :-)

  4. CJ - Thanks for sharing your pics. I agree Kmart prices here in St Louis are higher than I see listed on other blogs. Visine at the Kmart I went to to check prices on Saturday was priced $3.99 and marked that way on the shelf. I didn't buy any today so don't know if they changed the price. I do scan the items I price check because about 1/2 of them scan at a different price than listed on the shelf.

Cheryl - I don't even ask about the limit any more, but I did take my husband with me today.

  5. Kelly - Thanks for the info. I added coupon match ups for the itmes you mentioned.

  6. I scanned every Visine on the shelf and none of them were $3.99. All the Pert was gone. And they never have the $4.99 Goodlife cat food but have plenty of the $5.69 ones. I love Kmart doubles but I'd love it even more if the shelves were full on the first morning! At least all my coupons doubled correctly.

  7. CJ - I agree I love Kmart doubles, but it's always an adventure to see what is stocked and what it's priced at. I'm sorry about posting a Visine price that was different than your Kmart's.

  8. Jeri, there is also a $1/1 printable Purex coupon. The link is over on My Frugal Adventure's Kmart match-up. Same link in your post to her site and almost to the end of her list.

The Purex price at my Kmart was $5.50. That $4.95 price was after the 10% discount I got from spending $50.

  9. Kelly - Thanks for the clarification. I'll change the info in my post.
