This is a great week to start CVSing. The first thing you will need is an Extra Care Card. Sign up for one at the store and use it the same day.
With only four stores in town, don't be discouraged if the store you visit runs out of stock. Ask for a raincheck - see more info HERE.
Take a look at this week's deals for where to find the coupons.
Transaction #1
purchase (1) Crest Pro Health Rinse $3.50
use (1) Crest Rinse coupon -$2.00
= $1.50 + tax out of pocket and receive $3.50 ECB
Transaction #2
purchase (1) Crest Pro Health Rinse $3.50
use (1) Crest Rinse coupon -$2.00
= $1.50 + tax out of pocket and receive $3.50 ECB
You could purchase both Crest Rinses in one transaction, but if you do, you will end up with (1) $7.00 ECB. Purchase them in two transactions and you have (2) $3.50 ECBs. Smaller ECBs are more convenient to work with.
Transaction #3
purchase (1) Aussie product $2.99
purchase (1) PowerBar Energy Gel Blast $1.50
use (1) Aussie coupon -$1
= $3.49
use $3.50 ECB
= $0.00 out of pocket and receive $2 and $1.50 ECB
The cashier can reduce the value of your ECB. You lose a penny, but this is much cheaper than buying a filler you don't need or want.
Value of products purchased: $11.49
Total Out of Pocket: $3.00 and $7 of ECB's to use within the next month.

I went this morning & did the Colgate, Aussie & Crest deals this morning & used a ECB & paid $2 OOP.....could of been better if I split it up, but I just wanted to get it done & not take the chance of them being out later this week. Not bad though :)
ReplyDeleteRachel - I find it easier to do mine all together too. The ECBs have such long expiration dates, I know I'll always be able to use them up. The Lindbergh/Lemay Ferry store didnt have any of the Crest toothpaste.
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel - $2 isn't bad at all. When I've shopped at CVS they don't seem to mind back to back transactions. Although, if a line forms behind me, I step aside to let them check out before I do the next transaction.
ReplyDeleteHi CJ - I hope you remembered to ask for a raincheck for the Crest - you will still get the ECB.
I did the Crest Rinse w/ the $2 off coupons
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a problem with getting high dollar ECBs yet, but then again there are usually a few smaller ones that qualify too.
I also LOVE knowing I'm done for the week with certain things & knowing I don't have to keep going back like at Walgreens.
Jeri - I thought about a raincheck, because I knew you'd tell me to get one! But I dont like Crest and I have tons of toothpaste so it was no loss to skip it. Thanks for the reminder though!
ReplyDeleteSorry CJ if I'm nagging. With two teenage boys, nagging has become a habit. There is a few things in life I can't remind them about enough :)
ReplyDeleteJeri - You're not nagging! Someday CVS will be out of something I really want and I'll be sure to get a raincheck!
ReplyDeleteSo if they are out of something and you get a raincheck and it doesn't come in until next week you can still get the ECB?
ReplyDeleteHi Lynda - Yes, ECBs will be issued upon raincheck redemption.
ReplyDeleteThey put an event code number on the raincheck so the ECB will print.
See more about CVS rainchecks here - http://couponstl.blogspot.com/2010/02/cvs-rainchecks.html
Sorry, you'll have to cut & paste. I can't put a link in the comments.
So, I went to my CVS and they did not have the ECB posted on the Crest Rinse. They had all the other ECBs listed. Rinse there was 2/7.98 for the smaller bottles or Buy one get one 50% off for the Night time larger bottles.
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous - The Crest Rinse was in the ad, so they should honor the ad, even if they don't put up the shelf tags.
ReplyDeleteI haven't shopped at CVS enough yet to know if they always get the sale tags up. I know some Walgreens are good at placing them and others not so much. But, you can check the price at CVS with the price scan machine.
Hi Anonymous! Did you go to Hampton cor Gravois CVS? Yes there was no shelf tag but since it was on their weekly ad, I still grabbed 2 of the 4 left on the shelf. The store was almost empty so I was gutsy enough to make 3 separate orders.
ReplyDelete1st order:
Colgate $2.99
Coupon - 1.00(AllYou Feb.FreeTrialSubscription)
(2)Sobe Water $1.59 (B1G1)
IP CouponB1G1 - 1.59
OOP incl.Tax: $2.15
And got back $2 ECB.
2nd order:
Crest Rinse $3.50
AllYou Coupon -1.00
(2)Sobe Water $1.59 (B1G1)
IP CouponB1G1 -1.59
Used the ECB -$2.00
OOP w/tax 54 cents
And got back $3.50 ECB.
3rd order:
Crest Rinse $3.50
CrestCoupon - 2.00
Milk $2.69
Total $4.19
UsedECB -3.50
OOPw/tax 73 cents
And Got back $3.50 ECB.
"Bought" (4) Sobe Water, (1) Colgate, (2) Crest mouthwash and (1) gal. of milk for total OOP incl. tax for $ $3.42 and I still has $3.50 ECB to use next time. A profit of 8 cents. PLUS the elderly cashier woman was soooo helpful and was sooo happy with my savings and sooo friendly. (Unlike at Wags most of the time.) :)
With my Wags & CVS shopping, I always have to bribe my hubby with milk. It seems like he drinks milk more than he drinks water. So I'm always thrilled when these stores got cheap milk.
I guess my mistake was that I wasn't looking for the enamel shield rinse. I was just looking at the regular. I checked the circular though, and I see now that the ECBs at the nearest CVS are for the pro health enamel shield rinse. I had never seen it before, but I've bought the regular rinse many times.
ReplyDeleteThe Lemay & Lindbergh store didn't have any tags up when I went...which drives me crazy at Wags!! I just used the ad & hoped I was grabbing the right stuff....LOL
ReplyDeleteI love the deals w/ Wags & CVS & can't wait for free or close to it deals w/ the grocery stores!
My husband was about to lose his job due to the place closing & found something else, but of course for less pay so now more than ever your blog is truely helping us!! Thank you!! :)
Hi coupon.girl - Great trip to CVS! Thanks for sharing you shopping trip. Love the customer service at CVS.
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel - I too hate it when stores do not put the sale tags up, but at least at CVS has the price scanner so you can check.
There have been a few good grocery store deals the last few months, but I remember last spirng quite a few great deals. I'm still using the supply of mayo, BBQ sauce, and salad dressing that I made money buying last year. I hope the coming deals are as good or better than last year.
I'm glad my blog has helped your family.
No sale or ECB tags up at the Olivette store either and no printed ads available. But the scanner really helps to check prices. I had my bag with green tag up on the counter but with all the confusion over my coupons, it never got scanned :(
ReplyDeleteHi CJ - The cashier told me yesterday that they need to scan in this order:
ReplyDelete1. Scan Extra Care Card
2. Scan at least one item you're buying
3. Scan bag tag
I've had the bag tag missed before too. I checked the reciept before I left the store. I went back to the cashier to get the situation fixed and the manager told her to issue me a $1 ECB since it was forgotten.
I'm still amazed at the CVS's fanatastic customer service. I don't know if this is the normal procedure when they miss the bag tag, or if the manager just thought it was the easiest way to deal with it that day.
Jeri - Unfortunately my cashier was more interested in talking on the phone and to a coworker than she was on paying attention to me, so I was distracted from my normal routine there. But I learn more from every trip!
