Best Buys - Week of 5/9/10

My "best buys" are: items for $1 or less, meat for $2 or less a pound, and a few other items that are at rock bottom prices. When I keep my shopping list to these items, I can bring home a ton of groceries for very little money.

Also, check out Other Grocery Stores in St Louis for best buys at the smaller stores.

  1. The Walgreens next to De Paul hospital has a dozen large eggs for 69 cents.

  2. Meat for less than $2 a pound: Italian sausage at Schnucks (Schnucks brand). After nearly keeling over at the thought of paying $3.99/lb. for Italian sausage at Dierbergs, I drove across the street to Schnucks (on Telegraph). They have lots of meat marked to 25% off - meat with "Sell by dates" which are soon. Italian sausage was $1.50/lb. I stocked up and froze it all!

  4. Woo Hoo! Eggs for .69!

Hi Emily - You found a great deal. I need to look for marked down meat more often.

Hi Lynda - I haven't even sent mine in yet. Time for me do dig out the receipts.

  5. They also had eggs for $.69 at the Manchester Rd (W. of Clarkson) Walgreens. There was a sign on the door - I needed eggs and a filler - I love when that happens! The expiration date is pretty soon, but that is ok. I haven't noticed if other Walgreens have the same deal.

  6. Hi! I wasn't sure where to post this. Has anyone looked at the Gateway City Savings site- or used it. It looks a bit like a group blog, coupon site, etc. I signed up for the $50 gift certificate for Chevy's for $25. My family loves it, and that price will bring it into doable. When I looked under local coupons, they also had several coupons for Chevy's (free appetizers, etc), Noodles and other restaurants that I assume are local (I'm not from here). There were also a lot of coupons for services, etc. If anyone has had any experience with their deals, pls let me know. This was a huge leap of faith for me. Thanks! Trish
