FREE Oreos at Dierbergs

Have you heard about the New Reader Rewards promotion in the St Louis Post-Dispatch.

Each week, during the promotion, there will be a coupon on page A2 of the Sunday Post-Dispatch.

This week's coupon:

FREE Oreo Cookies, 15-18 oz. at Dierbergs
Coupon valid 6/7/10 - 6/13/10. Limit 1 Free package with coupon.

Wow! I have no idea how long these promotions/coupons will last or if they will always be this good. But, they certainly has gotten my attention.

Thanks, Couponmama!

  1. Yay, I love free cookies!

  2. I love Oreos in an unnatural way. I never buy them b/c I will eat the whole container by myself. These coupons are dangerous for me! Maybe next week it will be something healthy to balance out my oreo binge!

  3. Does anyone understand the fine print of the coupon? I'm not sure if it means one coupon per box of oreos, or only one free box of oreos per person/transaction. I'm gonna be away and have to send the hubs out to get these, and he would be much happier if he could get them in one or two trips instead of having to go back to the store everyday :)

  4. If by chance, one scores a few of these coupons, try the following. Check out thru the U-Scan with the packages of Oreo and one other item. Hopefully the coupon is in the system and the first one scanned won't cause a beep.

From my past experiences at the U-Scan, an attempt to double an eight MQ will lock up the system. After the manager flapped her lips about rules, I stated I would just make a few trips, instead.

  5. Hi Marcella - I rarely buy Oreos for the exact same reason.

Hi Couponmama - Who knows how Dierbergs in interperting the fine print. I would have your husband stop at Customer Service and ask if he could use multiple coupons in the same transaction. But remember the three like coupon rule.

Hi kas - There is not bar code on the coupon just a PLU #. The cashier will have to deal with the coupon. By the way, do you know what PLU stand for?

  6. Thank for the info on the coupon. I looked up PLU. SnS usage for ad coupons is probably done the company IT department and a priority set of numbers.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_Look-Up_codes

Now some pieces of produce will have a tag with a PLU code. If I recall correctly, the goal is to be able to trace the item even back to the farm. One shouldn't confuse this tag with a size count tag, which typically indicate the average count per case. Like can sizes, the lower the number, the larger each item.

  7. Hi kas - I didn't even think to look up PLU on Wikki. Thanks

  9. Jeri said... "But remember the three like coupon rule." I have no idea what the Oreo rules will be, but doesn't that 'three like coupon rule' only apply to how many like coupons will double? (Sorry for the off topic comment.)

  10. Hi Jenny B - Not off topic, I think you're right! I just learned last night that Dierbergs coupon policy is now on their website.

    http://www.dierbergs.com/About/Policies+and+Procedures.aspx

It mentions three like with coupon doubling, but doesn't mention anything about coupons that aren't doubled.

  11. It has been awhile, but I was only able to use 3 Marcal Qs at at time, and they weren't being doubled.

  12. Hi Andrea - Since nothing is in writing about non IP coupons that aren't doubled, it might be open to interpertation by the cashier or store. I guess we will see come Monday.

  13. About a month ago I was at the self checkout and I was trying to use 4 $1 off dannon yogurt coupons (they were actually for 2 different products but the family code on the coupon was the same) and the register wouldn't allow me to use the 4th one. So I would guess it is the way their system is set up.

  14. Oh, that's really interesting about the 3 coupon rule. Thanks for clarifying that, everyone!

  16. Thanks Stephanie - I wondered what they are going to do. Was there pleanty of stock?

  17. Sorry for the double post, it wasnt letting me comment this morning but I see they went through anyway. The Anonymous "test" was from me too! Hoping to get my free Oreos on the way home tonight.

  18. there were a lot of cookies, I just went back tonight and they let me use 3 at the u scans...I wonder if you can use it for ANY oreo cookies?

  19. Hi Stephanie - Thanks for the update. I sent my coupons with my husband and son tonight. I'm an origianl Oreo person myself. I better call them so they get the "right" ones.

  20. I got 2 packs of Oreos last night, one regular and one chocolate cream.

  21. My guys were only able to get one each at the McKenzie Pt. store.

It looks like each store/manager has their own rules.

  22. Just returned home from the Telegraph store and was only allowed to use one of the Oreo coupons per visit.

  23. I got (5) of this coupon. I want to use all of them but I got no car so I can't go there everyday for 5 days just to be able to get the free cookies and I'm only planning of buying one or two other item.

Would one coupon per visit mean one per day or even if this is a stupid idea, can I use one then go out of the store then do this again four more times the same day? I always follow the store's coupon rules but it's really a challenge if the store is far from where I live. :I

  24. Hi coupon.girl - You could take you purchase to the car and go back in for another. If I were you I would stop at the customer service counter before you shop. It sounds like different store are handling or setting different limits.

  25. Thank you, Ms. Jeri. :)

I've been trying to avoid talking with CS people so they won't "identify me" as "this and that" but I guess I have to this time. I hope the "coupon stars" will be with me and always. :)

  26. I was able to purchase 3 at the Edwardsville Dierbergs. Guess I picked the right checker!

  27. Has anyone else had this happen? I went to Dierbergs to get my Oreos and when I checked out, I guess the cashier didn't pay attention to what she was doing when she scanned my coupons. My total ended up being more than what I thought it should be with the free Oreos. I checked my receipt, and it seems she scanned the barcode for the Post Dispatch that was on the back of the coupon. I ended up paying for my Oreos and a Sunday paper that I already paid for. I took my receipt over to Customer Service and explained what happened and they gladly refunded me the cost of the Oreos and paper. I was just curious if this had happened to anyone else and to give you a heads up for future weeks. If they always put the coupon in the same place, then the barcode for the paper will be on the back of the coupon.

  28. Hi Anonymous - Thanks for the heads up. I could see how that could happen.

It's always good to know about what you should be paying before you check out and also check your receipt. Mistakes are easier to fix while you're still at the store.

  29. That happened to us today. The cashier accidentally scanned the barcade for the Post Dispatch.

FYI, I hear in this Sunday's paper it will be a coupon for their free potato chips, value $2.99.

  30. Hi Anonymous - I'll put a warning on my next Readers Rewards coupon post about watching to make sure you aren't charged for a newspaper. Free chips that's almost as good as free cookies.

  31. The bar code problem happens to me at Walgreens a lot, the cashier tries to scan the wrong side of the in ad coupon when there are coupons on each side, even when I hand over the coupon with the right side up.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi CJ - How interesting. I've had an ad coupon beep at Walgreens before and the cashier has entered the number manually. I never payed any attention to why it might have beeped.
