What's Up With the Signage at Walgreens?

I noticed something today at Walgreens, and when I got home, I had an email from a reader about the same situation.

This was the sign I found on Dove Body Wash. I knew from the ad there was a Register Reward deal on Dove, but it was buy $15 get $5 Register Reward. There was no purchase requirement on this sign. Was it possible the deal was better than what was printed in the ad? Was it going to trigger a Register Reward when I purchased just one body wash? I had the manager ring the Dove Body Wash up to see what would happen. No Register Reward.

But, not all signs are incorrect. I took this picture at a Walgreens less than a mile form the other store. You can see the purchase requirement at the top of the sign.

This is the situation Linda ran into. She found Suave for what looked like a great deal - $0.49 after Register Reward, but her Register Reward did not print. After some digging, the manager found what the offer is suppose to be - Buy $10 get $3. It is not advertised in the weekly flyer; it must be a monthly Register Reward deal. The manager gave her a form to send into Catalina Marketing to get the Register Reward. Linda was thinking, and took a picture of the sign and plans on sending the picture along with the form. Do you think she will get the Register Reward?

Here is the correct sign. Yes, at the second store I visited, all their signs were correct.

Be careful shopping at Walgreens this week. What you see might not be what you get.

Thanks, Linda!

  2. This same thing happened at a Wags near me, the sign was for Reese's cups 2/$5 showing $5 RR like getting it free on the sign. Grabbed 4 bags checked out separately and no RR. Manager called over and said no you have to buy $10. We went to get the signs and it clearly said free but the manager would not honor. I don't think you will get the RR from catalina since I think this is a Wags advertising issue.

  3. This is a different but annoying Walgreens issue. I just bought the Sunday Post Dispatch at the Walgreens on 14th and Lafayette pretty much just for coupons. I came home and actually read the newspaper, and then realized it is missing all 3 coupon inserts. Can I take it back?

  4. Walgreens store this morning gave me the option to ring my socks up for $0 or she would scan another product to produce the $3RR. $0 for the socks was fine with me. I also saw the RR posted near the Dove body washes and bought one. I thought it was just an unadvertised sale. No RR printed but the manager scanned products to have the RR print out. Then I heard her tell her coworker that a lot of RR are "messed up". Christy

  5. Hi Rachel - You could try. The worst they could say is no. If you go in the morning, they might have papers left and you could ask just for the insert.

I think most everyone has this happen to them once. You learn to check the papers before you buy.

  6. Hi Christy - Wow! You have a great manager where you shop. Too bad more couldn't be like yours.

  7. IT looks like it started printing too high on the sign & the important info got cut off.

  8. Hi Rachel - I went back and talked to the manager today. It sounded like they just printed the wrong signs. I'm not sure I understand it.
