Walgreens $5 Scenario - Week of 5/9/10

The most cost effective way to shop at Walgreens is to roll your Register Rewards from week to week.

Last week's Walgreens Scenario, left you with a $2 Register Reward. So, here is how I would use it this week. If you're not starting out with the Register Reward, this is still a good scenario to get you started at Walgreens.

Check out all of this week's Walgreens deals HERE.

Transaction #1
purchase:
(1) EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream $2.99
use :
Register Reward from last week -$2.00
= $0.99 + tax out of pocket and receive a $3 EOS Products Register Reward

Transaction #2
purchase:
(1) Schick Hydro Razor $7.99
(1) W Candy $0.39 (need for filler to use Register Reward)
use:
(1) Hydro coupon (5/9/10 SS) -$5.00
EOS Register Reward -$3.00
= $0.38 + tax out of pocket and receive $5 Energizer Register Reward

Transaction #3
purchase:
(1) EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream $2.99
(2) Infusium 23 Hair Care products @ $5.99 = $11.98
(1) W Candy $0.39 (need for filler so total is large enough to use Register Reward)
use:
(2) Infusium coupons (5/9/10 SS) -$6.00
Walgreens May Coupon book coupon for Infusium -$4.00*
Energizer Register Reward -$5.00
= $0.36 + tax out of pocket and receive a $3 EOS Register Reward
*Note: When you use a Walgreens store coupon the register deducts the value of the coupon for each item purchased

Transaction #4
purchase:
(1) Schick Hydro Razor $7.99
(1) W Candy $0.39 ( needed for filler to use your Register Reward)
use:
(1) Hydro coupon (5/9/10 SS) -$5.00
EOS Register Reward -$3.00
= $0.38 + tax out of pocket and receive $5 Energizer Register Reward

Items Purchased
(2) Shave Creams
(2) Razors
(2) Hair Care Products
(3) bags of Candy

Total retail before sales: $46.51
Total out of pocket: $2.11 + tax for a 95% savings
And a $5 Register Reward to start next week.

If you didn't start with a Register Reward, you have still spent only $4.11 + tax, a 91% savings.

  1. I like the way you use candy as your 'filler'. That's my kind of shopping!

  4. Sally,

EOS is the manufacturer/company from the Shave Gel so you know to use the RR from that one. It is printed on the reward. Actually, I think it is printing as skintimate. You can't use a reward from the same company to roll on another product from that company with an RR.

  5. Hi Anonymous - I hate that you have to buy something to use a RR. I uaually go for the cheapest thing avaialable, but I'll gladly pay an extra 5 cents for candy over knee high hose.

And, thanks Rhonda for explaining my notation on RR.

  8. Hi Jan - If you get the St Louis Post-Dispatch, it was in this weekends coupon insert. It's located about half-way through on the back side of the Children's Claritin and Glade Sense & Spary page. Hope you find it.

  9. I'm in Kentucky so maybe that's why I didn't get them. Sigh.

    Thanks,
    Jan

  10. If you have a Pick'n Save in your area they will honor your rewards coupon as cash.
