Another Walgreens Update - Super Jingle Cash
I posted about the Hallmark Tissue and Wrap Register Reward deal not working. Now more bad news being reported.
Super Jingle Cash purchase requirement is now after manufacturer and Walgreens coupons have been deducted.
The Hallmark deal was good while it lasted. I understand someone messed up at Hallmark, Catlaina Marketing or Walgreens - maybe at all three. Someone didn't didn't communicate what their intentions were or someone didn't program a computer correctly.
But, this change now in Super Jingle Cash bothers me big time. How is using a manufacturer's coupon any different than paying full price? Walgreens is reimbursed for coupons and handling fees even when my out of pocket is zero. It's not like I use a credit card to pay for my purchases - then they would have to pay a processing fee. Why are couponers penalized?
UPDATE: Now, I'm ticked - I just saw this on Wild For Wags.
Walgreens website spells out the "rules" for Super Jingle Ca$h (scroll to the bottom of the page).
"Walgreens Super Jingle Ca$h is earned after all applicable discounts and before any manufacturer coupons or taxes are imposed"

I am confused, what does this mean about the Jingle Cash?
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous - Super Jingle Cash is the promotion Walgreens has running when you purchase a certain $ amount you get a bonus Register Reward back to use next week.
ReplyDeleteUntil today the purchase requirement was before coupons. Now it is after copuons.
Thanks, I show up as "Kim Perkins Latta" under comments on FB, and am anonymous here because I don't apply to any of the options below. Ok, I get ya, I was thinking the redemption of the Jingle Cash was the problem, and am now reading that it is the way that they are earned. I did grab one to check, and see I can only redeem one at a time. Talk about holding up the line, I have several.
ReplyDeleteI had this problem this morning. Lucky for me I had a nice cashier who voided and re rand with some new items. It bugged me because I could have saved so much more.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim - You and many others are anonymous here. Yes, redem only one at a time. SJC does not roll, so if you purchase $25 after all coupons and use SJC to pay you will not get another one next week. I always check out at the beauty or photo counters so I don't hold up the mail checkout lane. The cashiers up front get a little anxious when the line starts to get long.
ReplyDeleteHi Nora - It bugs me when they change the "rules" mid promotion.
Jeri,
ReplyDeleteIsn't all RR coming out as Jingle cash right now? I am pretty sure that the rr I got last week for $2.00 was jingle cash. I also tried the Hallmark deal today and had a very nice manager who simply refunded five dollars back to my credit card :)
I had my fun and games (royal pain) last Thursday. First there no $5 Jingle cash for usage of $4 in RR. Buy the Crest toothpaste and of course I lacked a MQ. Finally, grabbed three Butterfinger and the register refued to take the in-ad coupon.
ReplyDeleteIMHO, Catalina Marketing should quit doing business with Wags when the contract is over. If possible I rather deal with CM, then have some half-wit in Deerfield refer my case to the wrong store, based on my zip code. Beside, I still need to drive to the store where I had the problems and too often management is a royal pain.
Okay I understand the $5/$25 JC is now working only with $25 purchase after coupons. And that if you use a $5 JC from last week, a new one wont print this week. But what about other JC items? If I use a $2 Hallmark JC from this week to buy the Goody barrettes on Monday, will I still get a $2 JC for the barrettes? Is it only the $5/$25 JC that the rules have changed for? I need to use up all my JC from last week but dont want to use them on new JC items if I'm not going to get any JC back at all!
ReplyDeleteThis isnt true, at least locally. I went to three stores tonight and my total was above $25 at one place and above $50 at the other two places before coupons. After coupons it was well below, but still got $5, $10 and $10 SJC. Whatever the rumor is, it didn't cause any problems for me tonight.
ReplyDeleteThis just gets more and more complicated every week at Wags. And that is to a seasoned couponer. I can't imagine what it must be like to the newbies.
ReplyDeletecouponmamma,
ReplyDeleteare you in the st. louis area?
yes. i am local. it works at wags on manchester/baxter in manchester and wags on manchester rd in ellisville and wags in brentwood.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I am reading on other forums, now it is working exactly like the rules say it should. You have to have $25 after all Walgreens coupons/discounts (including SJC), but manufacturers coupons (including JC) will not matter. So, if you have a $5 SJC from last week, as long as you buy $30 worth of stuff this week, you can use the $5 SJC and still get another one. I haven't tried this myself, just seems to be the consensus online.
ReplyDeleteHi all - I would love to go test what's happening with Walgreens today, but I think I'll put that off for awhile.
ReplyDeleteLisa - All RR are not called Jingle Cash and they work just like RR. Super Jingle Cash is the promotion where if you puchase $25 or more you get a bonus RR called Super Jinlge Cash and you can't use it until the following week.
CJ - With what Walgreens has pulled the last few days, I hate to comment what should happen with anything. But, I don't think regular RR/JC has changed who it works at all.
Couponmama - You must have shopped soon after they changed the "rules" back to what was on their website.
JB - Thanks for the update!!!!!!
