  4. Hi Anonymous - Yes, your correct. The scenario has only (4) Big Rolls.

  5. I have question what if you are just starting out. How do you start doing this. Should I just buy everything from the first list. I missed out on the Tom's coupon last week they were all out when I went to buy it. In the first scenario what triggers the 2 coupons for $2.50 Colgate-Palmolive and $2 Beiersdorf RR? Can I buy just those 2 items and them move on to group # 2? I assume it is buying these 2 items correct?
Colgate Pro Clinical Toothpaste, Nivea for Men Artic Freeze Shave Gel or After Shave. Also, when there is an item you suggest that I would normally not buy what do you do? Buy it anyways and dontate it to a shelter or something. Just wondering how the item you would not normally buy factors in. Normally I would not by the shaving creme but I guess I could use it on my legs right?!

  6. Hi Anonymous,

Welcome to CouponSTL and what I call Waggin'. Jeri makes her suggestions based on what she needs/donates etc and works up the plan using any RR(Register Rewards) she has from the previous week.

The Colgate Pro Clinical TP will generate the $2.50 Colgate-Palmolive RR and the Nivea for Men Shave Gel/After shave will generate the $2 Beiersdorf RR. If you do only those two items:

    1 Colgate Pro TP @ $3.49
    1 Nivea for Men @ $2.99
    =$6.48
    - Any coupons you have for these two items
    = Your Total
And you will receive the two mentioned RRs to use toward your second transaction.

I work my plans out on scrap paper and then when ready I paperclip the coupons needed to that plan.

On the Mens shave gel/after shave-do you have male family members? You could save items for gift bags for B-days etc.. HTH =)

  7. Opps sorry did not realize my name did not post! Thanks for explaining. There is also an instore coupon for the Nivea item it is one of those tear off coupons. I saw it the other day and I think it was $3.00. I also saw it on another blog. I will try to find it to share the info. Great idea on donating the items as well especially if they end of free. I do have some saved up RR's so I can use those too.

Can I ask another question. How do you organize all your coupons! Yikes I am accumulating so many!

  8. Jacquelyn - Welcome to couponing! Everyone's organizing is different. I separate my coups according to which stores I would likely use them at. I have separate packets for grocery, Walgreens, CVS, Target/Walmart, and pet stores. I just keep mine together using binder clips and wrap a half sheet of paper around each bundle to write prices and match ups, and keep them all in a canvas bag. It looks very non-professional but it works for me!

  9. Hi Jacquelyn,

Your Welcome. And you be sure to give us all the details on the -$3 Nivea coupon you saw. I have heard of a -$1 so far.

Coupon Organization? Jeri-Maybe I should start a basic info topic on this subject with pics of how I do keep mine over in the Coupon Trader Forum. Would that be of interest of you guys?

  10. I would love a link to the Coupon Trader Forum. I most eat Organic so I have tons of non organic coupons to trade! I also just sent an email to the Admin here about a bunch of coupons I found that everyone might be interested in. :) They are on my blog too. I think the 3rd post down see the Eggs post. I just started blogging lots of hits so somebody must be reading! LOL!

In regard to coupons I mean as a whole. How do you keep the whole lot of them organized once you print and cut them out and before you go to the stores. But I do like the idea about keeping them separate by the store with your list. Makes sense. I am not 100% Organic it is really hard to be in this day and age so there are other things I do buy. :)

  11. Hi,

I started couponing just this month and came across your site. I was spending about $20 bucks a week from walgreens before but your $5 scenario helped me save a lot of money. I only spent $7.15 oop with tax today and received $5.50 RR for my next purchase. Thank you so much for all your suggestions.

  12. Jacquelyn - Just visited your blog. Pancake batter in a spray can is the best food idea ever! It's sold at Dierbergs and Whole Foods in St Louis. I cant wait to try it!!

  13. Jacquelyn -
Welcome! I keep my coupons in a binder in those plastic pages that can be used for baseball cards. It works out really well. I just group them based on type (dairy, breakfast, etc.), and then i have a separate sections for the different stores I go to. Good luck!!

  14. Welcome Jacquelyn! I started writing my $5 Scenaios so readers could get an idea of how to maximize thier savings at Walgreens. I never dawned on me how many people would follow them.

You got great advice from Janet and CJ. I learn tons from them too. Once you get the hang of Walgreens, you will save a ton of money.

Your more than welcome to register and link to Coupon Traders.

Everyone organizes their coupons a little different. You have to do what works for you. I don't clip, but file my inserts. I clip when I put my shopping plan together and those are the only coupons I take to the store with me.

  15. Welcome Ina! I'm glad I've been able to help you save.

  16. Hello all,
I had a question as I am also just getting started. Can I used the transactions she suggested except buying one stayfree maxi pad (I already used my b1g1) and without the pedia care cold (I dont need it and I cant find the coupon online)
    Thanks,
    Laura

  17. Hi Laura - Yes, just rework your plan. I put my plan on paper much like my $5 scearnios.

Yes, I don't always follow them. I write the $5 Scenarios to give readers an idea of the possibilties.

If you get your plan together, post it hear in comments. I take a look at it and advise you if it will work or not.

will that work? I just took out one colgate coupon and one stayfree pad.

Thanks again for sharing the knowledge!

  19. Hi All,

Laura Welcome to Coupon STL. I checked out your plan.

    Trans #1

You do not need a filler to use the RR since you are not using a coupon for the Colgate or the Nivea. And be on the lookout for -1/1 Nivea Peelies on the products. This will make your OOP lower in the first Trans.

Trans #2 should be $2.26 + tax and earn the $4.00 RR back. You are ok on coupons=RRs.

    Trans #3 is ok. =)

One "Rule" for Wags is "Coupons + RRs must = # items" I use this in my Wags plan to keep me on track. HTH

  20. Thanks, Janet for getting back to Laura!

    Laura - I agree with Janet's advise.

  21. Hey guys.
Thanks of course I saw this after I went. Oh well - I just keep telling myself I will get better with coupon practice. I did by the colgate and nivea, but I didn't get the colgate RR- I actually only got one for $3, which made my trans #2 much higher. Any reason I didn't get it? Just want to make sure I understand the rule, if I use one RR and I have 3 coupons I must buy 4 total things.
Jeri and Janet- I feel like I have two new amazing insightful friends!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi Laura - You will get better with practise. Yes, (1) RR and (3) coupons mean you need to buy (4) items. But, one more wierd quirk with Walgreens, if you use a $1/2 coupon it will usually attach to 2 items, so you need to count it as two coupons.

I don't know why you didn't get your Colgate RR. Since the machine was working, you did get the Nivea RR, you might havep icked up a Colgate item that wasn't included in the RR deal.

  23. I thought it was odd, but I made sure it was the right colgate. I probably should have asked, but it was busy and I am not very good at being pushy haha. Oh well I have my $3 RR for next week and I can't wait.
