I'm going to try making homemade pizza this week. It sure sounds easy, but I've never had any luck when yeast is involved. Maybe if I keep practicing, I'll conquer my yeast issue.
Monday: General Tso's Chicken with rice, steamed broccoli, pineapple, egg rolls
Tuesday: BBQ chicken sandwiches, fresh veggies with dip, chips, apple sliced
Wednesday: Biscuits & Sausage Gravy, orange juice
Thursday: Pepperoni Pizza, apple slices
Friday: Fish, long grain & wild rice, green salad
Saturday: Date night - out for dinner
Sunday: Pork chops, baked potatoes, veggie, fruit

Are you making Genl Tso's? I would love the recipe!
ReplyDeleteHi Frugal Friend - I wish I had some great recipe to share, but it's only out of a bag.
ReplyDeleteKakihi has been on sale and I picked it up for $1.99 a bag. I can't begin to make it for that price, and it's a really good product.
I use MSM's pizza dough recipe and it works great! For us I've found it works best if I let the yeast "proof" for a few minutes in the bowl with the hot water before I throw everything else in, but that might be because I keep my yeast refrigerated and it's fresh yeast, not active dry. I've also found lately that I've needed to add more flour than she used--maybe because I knead mine in a mixer? Not sure, but it always tastes great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Courtney. I keep telling myself making a dough product can't be that hard. Haven't they been doing it since the rise of civilization?
ReplyDeleteThe RISE of civilization??? Oh my...
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up with your fears of yeast!! You'll do great; it will be edible!! I have used that recipe in the past, and it's okay...it doesn't rise much so don't be dismayed if that's the case. You can always resort to cresent rolls for crust, that's what my mom always used and she's an avid baker.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa - I like the cresent roll idea. But, I'm still going to get DiGirono from Target as a back up.

ReplyDeleteI use Dierbergs recipe......let it raise in a warm oven for about 20-30 minutes (spray with PAM and cover with saran)...then pat out...bake about 15 minutes...put on goodies....bake an additional 12ish minutes........my family loves homemade pizza!!
Thanks Denise - I'm going to conquer this problem with yeast. It might take a lot of practice.
