  1. My friend shared with me a GREAT tip. She said that Walmart has a price match guarantee, so she will take her ads with her and get everything in one stop (using her coupons) and will have them price match everything.

I'm planning my trip this week and plan to get the Aldis produce (avocado, pineapple, strawberries, bananas) the dierbergs ken's dressing (since coupon is $1 and not being doubled anyway) and the schnuck's idahoan potatoes!

I have an 11 month old, so if I can plan at home during naptime and then get the deals in ONE stop....it's HUGE! I hope this helps someone else! I'm going this afternoon, I'll let you know if it doesn't work!

(this might be a tactic to use when other stores run out of stock, too!)

Oh and thanks for posting this! I used it to pick what I wanted to get from each store and it should help my check out go faster as I know what ad to show and know that I'm getting the best price!

  2. okay, so it worked! Kind of.

The idahoan potatoes were .98 so that beat the advertised price of $1. (and they took the printable coupon for .75 off 3)

The ken's dressing caused a stink. They checkout lady, another check out person and the "manager" of the check out people ganged up on my and said that they can't take a coupon on a price matched item. I told them they could because my friend did it...but they wouldn't do it. So I didn't get the dressing.

When I left I called the store manager (figure his name is on the receipt for a reason) and he verified that I was correct. I hope he actually talks to the 3 involved because they weren't very nice and I don't want this problem in the future!

Not too bad, I saved $3 off a $20 purchase...but would have been a little over $6 saved on a $21 purchase if they hadn't messed it up!

  3. Hi Amber - Thanks so much for sharing your expierence.

I don't live close to a Walmart so I don't even think about price matching there, but I understand with a little one in tow one stop shopping is a great advantage.

Good for you for leaving the dressing at the store and calling the manager. Keep the Dierbergs ad, and when you go back ask the manager if he would still honor Dierbergs price. All he could say is no, but it's worth asking the question.

Keep me posted on your Walmart adventures in price matching and couponing. I'm very interested in hearing how it goes and if it gets better.

  4. Smart Ones do not end up being .66 at Target. You only get the $5 gift card if you buy 10.

  5. Hi Anonymous - I'm sorry. I couldn't get this deal posted correctly from the beginning. Quite ironic it was for "Smart" Ones.

  6. Amber, mind sharing which Walmart you went to? I have only had wonderful experiences at the Walmart in Chesterfield. However, I read on another coupon forum about absolutely horrendous experiences at the Walmart in Maplewood. My own personal experience has been that even when I am coupon-free, I haven't been treated as well at Maplewood. Chesterfield is a little far for me, I would much rather go to Manchester or Fenton, but there is one really cute checker who is so nice and never gives me any trouble. I have had absolutely wonderful experiences with Target in Chesterfield too.

At Target yesterday, neither the TGI Friday "free" appetizers were ringing up, or the smart ones gift card. They had to send someone back to check it out. I handed the checker nearly 50 coupons. No problems. The manager-trainee also ended up putting $5 extra dollars on the GC for the trouble. They have my business. I tried to remember the employees names so that I could write a nice letter to the store (I like to compliment as well as complain, lol).

Moral of my story is, I pick my locations strategically. And when I need more than just a couple items, or know certain coupons are problematic, or want to power-shop, I will take a little trek out to Chesterfield where so far I have always been treated with dignity.

I have never tried price matching with Walmart though, so I might try that next time I go!

  7. Hi Couponmama - Thanks for sharing your expierences and your advice. I agree. Pick where you shop as carefully as you pick your cashier. It makes the world of difference. A few extra minutes in the car can save a ton of time and angusih at the store.
