  1. Wow- we might be having ground beef instead of turkey for a while at that price! Haven't seen it that low in a long while.

    1. Hi Kelly - Yes, that is the best price I've seen in a very long time.

    2. I was just thinking the same thing, I have been grabbing ground chicken at Aldi for $2.69/lb. I think we will be stocking up! My husband was just complaining the other day about us getting real hamburger. LOL Thanks for the post! Tacos tonight. :) ~April

  2. Any predictions on the sales cycle for this price of ground beef? Trying to gauge how much to get. 13 lbs the first round - no limit at our store for 80% - made burgers, cooked ground beef, and a meatloaf. One package left to do meatballs - ran out of energy :)

    1. Hi Lisa - I haven't seen 80% for this price in a very long time. From everything I've heard, we are going to continue to see high beef prices because of the drought this summer.

If you have the space and money this time of year, I would stock up quite a bit at this price.

We split a 1/2 a cow this fall. We still have burger in the freezer from that purchase, but I'm going to buy more at Schnucks for this price.

  3. I was so excited about Schnucks after the double/triple coupons deals, but this week there wasn't much on sale that I buy -- disappointing! I did find one unadvertised sale on 8-count Juicy Juice 100% juice boxes at 2/5 (Fruitfuls are also on sale), not a bad price if you have a coupon (I didn't). A few sales from last week are carried over, such as 2/5 Planters peanut butter. My store had NO holiday M&Ms on clearance like I was hoping -- bummer.

  4. Pop-tarts were also 1.88/box, another deal I didn't see advertised.

    1. Hi Jessi - Thanks for the info. Don't be too disappointed with Schnucks. Not every week are they going to have great deals.

Stock up when you find great deals, and when you don't find great deals, spend you grocery budget on those items that you can use with your stockpile items to make meals

  5. Great price on ground beef, my store had packs smaller than 4 lbs for the same price. I made several meals of tacos, sloppy joes and burgers. Will try to get more tonight if the roads arent too bad. As always I wish I had more freezer room. Hope we get a sale on fresh chicken breast soon, at $5.49/lb I havent bought it for a while.

    1. Hi CJ - I'm low on chicken breast too. I think I might have to change my "buy price", but I'm not going to buy at $5.49 lb.

    2. Jeri - I prefer boneless chicken tenderloins but they are just too expensive anymore. Got split chicken breasts at SNS last night for $1.78/lb. I hate deboning and cutting chicken but for that good of a price, I'll have to do it.

    3. I too hate cutting up chicken. But, I made my husband help and we deboned and deskinned Split chicken breast and measure the waste. We figured that half was lost to waste. (Maybe a real butcher would do better)

So, if split chicken breast are 1/2 my "buy price" that is the way I'll go. And, have my husband butcher.
